An big .big bull is about 700 pounds, but up in sweden they can be ca 900 pounds.

So its small compared to the Alskan moose that you guys have.

It s cool to see these big bore rounds. how much cost it to load an round of them?

mr rigby- once you have cases, which will reload forever, about $3 a load.
About $2 for bullet, 25 cents for primer,
75 cents for cannister powder. Surplus
powder 25 cents or less. I just got a few
825gr 7oo cal soft jacketed bullets from
Copperhead Custom, to test. Made with
copper tubing jackets and they are perfect.
Base closed up tight like the best that
Barnes ever did. Not a big gap like a few
others leave. Won't have to wonder about
shooting lead out and leaving jacket lodged
in the bore,, And the nose shape is
just perfect identical to ones Martin made
for me before his health failed.
Tom made these while waiting
for jackets. I told him with this quality
make them with tubing. So anyone needing big
bore quality bullets, please check
with Copperhead Custom. He can go any weight
and they have a canelure.Ed

The 7383 plinking load mentioned above has
wads under to take up space. Top load of 7383
with 850 gr is 230gr and gets about 2350.
No wads on top load. The wads by the way
taking up the airspace make the calculation
of the expansion ratio accurate, and thus the
velocity formulas are accurate, matching
the chrono.Ed.

The 7383 loads are great in 700He testing.
reduced loads with no airspace(wads take up
space) are predictable. Much better than
loose powder loads like 5744, etc,
that would get hairy if they didn't have
space. Ed.

and anyone needing jacketed big bores,
please check them out.You may like
them better than high dollar stuff.Ed

Hey Ed, right now I'm working on kinda the same project, just still twiddling my thumbs on my order of metals I'm recieving (4140,8629,D2,S7 and O1) to get started. But I'm engineering a single shot first than redesigning the whole thing into a double. The action itself is of a completely new design, after spending quite a bit of time drawing away at my workdesk. Big Al's been the bird in my ear and has given me some wonderful ideas and with his enthusiasm, has given me a drive to put forth new ideas into the gunsmithing crowd. Soon my friends, we will have a cartridge capable of knocking a elephant off it's feet!

I want to put an order together of a
bunch MRC PH Actions with larger barrel
thread to use for my 700H 3.25" case.
Action will work with larger thread.
They said they'd do the larger thread on
a bunch as long as there are 15-20wanted
that way. If I can't get enough in
the way commitments in a few weeks
I'm gonna try ordering with a down payment
enough to get it done. I think for big bore nuts
this is chance to get a real hairy case in a bolt gun without 3-5 grand being spent. There
are 700 bullets out there. I have cases.
Just need an action that is right size
without being huge and costing arm/leg.Ed

Hey Ed, sorry it took so long to get back to ya. Been chasing around a new rifle that I finally just bought.
Well this new action of mine has been kind of a idea correlation between Big Al and myself, and hopefully any other ideas would be appreciated. It's a rather simple pivoting block system that does away with all the wonderful little fragile parts of a standard falling block. In all basics, it's kinda like the Steven's M.44 1/2 on steriods, except with a external hammer a la Sharps and a few other features I'm throwing down on blueprints to see if it'll work. This action will first be a single shot, than I'm going to rework it into a pivoting-block double. Don't know how it'll be recieved by the general public, but I'm aiming for more managable manufacturing costs to give the average working man a chance at a true big bore single or double. Once it's out of the woodworks and the patent is pending, I plan on posting pictures and hopefully granting the rights to a manufacturing company in hopes to bring back the interest in big bores and not all these minute-bore super zippers.
I don't believe I'd be able to become a manufacturer myself due to time constraints being in the Marine Corps. If I wasn't tied down to my duties, I'm sure I'd having a working action already made!
I'll be posting more about the action and if I can be of any help to you please let me know!

Best Regards,
Kevin

Metalsmith,

I believe a very large and well known Gunmaker of considerable provinance has already invented and owns the 800 NE, 800 Nitro Express, ETC.

FYI pretty much every conceivable iteration of pivoting block device has been done. Some work well and most don't.

If you haven't already you might wan't to check out one of the comprehensive compilations on single shot designs. Most of the designs are in the public domain. Careful of those pesky patents!

You might save yourself a ton of work and $$$.

Make it .935 x .950 - Krieger has tooling for this and you can get some inexpensive single pointed barrels made.

Of course JD Jones already did that too. (The 950 JDJ I think it was) Something like an 85 lb Elmer Fudd Gun with a shell holder action. He used 20mm M103 Brass. I have some brass if you want it. Also have a M103 die set too.

Have any photos of your 900?

All I have is the case, a belted 900
case That brass is perfect at that diameter, but not any larger.I have the Vulcan brass you
mention and being little larger diameter,
but it is shorter than Suzy brass,
that is what we made 4bore cases from that
are the same as Ken Owen's cases, using

GLZ-- Mauser is 1.1", MRC wants to
make it 1.060. But they made action
bigger than Mauser up to 1.505" action
diameter.So if thread was a 1.1875- 1.2"
and you use 1.45-1.5 inch barrels,
be perfect. We got to get everyone away from the idea of these size cases in 1.25" barrel
stock, with 1-1.060 threads, just because
that's the barrel diameter most companies
want to make.It is crazy. No way to build
big caliber guns.Ed

Boom--In a way its been done - The 50BMG
spotter round, 3" long, 50cal, and base
same size as regular BMG. Just shorter.
Now if you had a spotter round or my case
necked to 50cal or 585, or spotter expanded
to 585, they'd be to big of diameter for
the CZ and other regular bolt actions.
Which is why we like MRC PH action with
bigger bolt and we are trying to get it set
up right.With bigger barrel threads.
My 585HE one of a kind will get a 750gr
to 2800 plus. It is made from NYATI basic brass,
that ended up with a case 3.45" long.
