He threatened me via PM a couple years ago. It was on a thread where I disagreed with him about a statement concerning guided hunts vs. DIY hunts. I was shocked to get the PM considering I didn't get personal on the tread, I simply didn't agree.

Maybe he was pissed at multiple posters that day and I was just one of them.

I deleted the PM, did not share it with anyone such as Saeed, and I never responded to Rich anywhere except the "Classic Car" Forum after that. And that was to correct him on a mis-statement concerning Mopar production numbers. He took that well.

I don't recall the Elk claims, I don't recall discussions of Vietnam exploits. Nether matter to me.

That said his PM threat was detailed and nasty. If he lived close enough to think of doing what was detailed in the PM I would have reported it to the authorities and amped up my defenses for a while. Yes, it was that ugly.

I called bullshit on it too. There are a few claims on AR that when viewed in their entirety and weighed against probability simply don't pass the laugh test. ISS claims of killing dozens of 350 BC elk without a single picture to show of it is one of those. It simply defies reality that he was hunting only for meat (his explanation) but happened to run into only huge bulls. Not since Llamapacker accusing Nixon of stealing his traveler's checks have we seen such a preposterous claim.

I think ISS knows about a lot of subjects but when you post something like the elk claim, it kind of kills your credibility.

Some time later this thread starts with the cold question, "Did Rich die" and then Teddy meekly says, "I was just trying to ask his whereabouts." (I mean really! If one wants to know someone's whereabouts they would ask, "has any seen or heard from …?" When I'm seeking an old friend I don't begin asking if they are dead).

It has grown to almost 9 pages and 14,000 views of a shit storm bringing up the past (most of it was forgotten until now). Has Teddy's quest for revenge been satisfied?

I can't comment on the threats ISS made to others. Rich and myself have been pissed at each other but no threats came my way and the past is the past. Saeed certainly has the right to police his forum and I find no fault with his actions; only gratitude that he lets us post as we wish, with more freedom than any other forum.

This thread, like all others, will run its course soon enough. Many have gotten old ill feelings off their chest and the OP has extracted revenge in a setting where Rich can't defend himself. While there is absolutely no excuse for threats of violence, it would be interesting to hear Rich's side of the stories regarding what was meant and what was actually said--perhaps to see the posts and PMs rather than state, "He said this to me."

This thread, like all others is, not stupid. It has value even if the value is opinion, just venting, or revenge.

AR is, no doubt, the best forum and we all owe Saeed our thanks.

PS. Yes, Ted, turkey, elk, white tail, grizzly, moose, caribou, elephant, and plains game. Keep up the exercise and stay healthy. If recovery is slow, I can recommend an outstanding elk guide where you'll barely get out of the car! Good combination of social life and hunting, too-- you'll meet dozens of other hunters and see a large variety of vehicles. And, expect a 6x6 bull or larger! The hunt is $4250 this year plus trophy fee. Can you swing this much? I would love to see your hunt report.

Now there is no question Saeed did what he did for good reason. No one here will ever question Saeed's honesty. But, for a moment, let's look at the other side. We (myself included) have mentioned the elk stories over the years. Many here have commented about 27 or 28 350-point elk whilst meat hunting. I, for one, have never seen the original statement from Rich. And, while many here speak of the threats, I don't think we've seen the original threatening emails or PMs.

Forgive me for wondering, but can this, or some of this, be like the Mark Sullivan threads where many will state MS has (pick one: lost his license for game violations, wounds animals to get them to charge, shoots a bull in the balls with a .22, etc.) but absolutely no one has ever seen said events happen.

I don't mean to call anyone's integrity to the carpet here, but if this was a court of law, it would be facts and nothing else.

Again, no offense is intended to anyone here. I'm just wondering…

Rich threatened me. I replied to him stating that I'm sure the authorities would appreciate reading his statement. Within a matter of minutes, the entire PM thread was deleted. Since Rich was the original poster of the PM, he had the ability to delete the entire thing. I also know the PMs to Scottyboy and Mark Young were also deleted during the same timeframe. I sure wish I had it because I would certainly post if for your reading pleasure.

Any person with a reasonable amount of intelligence would realize that the threats were/are real and warranted the banning by Saeed.

I agree: in both cases, the one making the statement should back up the claim - something ISS never could do with the 28 350 B&C elk. Look, I am not losing sleep over his claim, but to insist that someone can make ridiculous claims on AR and not be questioned is unreasonable. ISS made some claims about shooting rockchucks at long range; I believe he did that. I don't think he shot 28 350 B&C elk and never took a photo of a single one.

jdollar, I don't think anyone here doubts the threats ISS made, and I don't think anyone here thinks you guys are liars about the threats.

I also think a few of you guys started the threats by ganging up on him about the Elk post he made. Without any solid proof that it was a lie! You guys got a little nasty with him before any of this even started.

Then on top of that gang-bang most of you accused him of lying about his service in Nam. IMO, that is what started his PTSD to rise to the level that was the turning point for the rest of what has become a witch hunt that we see today!

Having said the above, I have to agree with the posts that it takes two to have a fight, or in this case a mob and a person to cause 9 pages of crap slinging like this thread!

I was "wondering" why Northway hadn't posted in a couple of years and asked about it in the Alaska Forum. He always posted a report of his Sheep success every year. The man is a Sheep killing machine. When I didn't see anything for quite a while I had no way to reach him personally, didn't know his real name, so a asked on the forum.
