I have no idea if ISS's war stories are true. Perhaps they are. If they are, I thank him for his service. I can certainly understand how some people have been exposed to things that change them in not so good ways from things they have seen or done while in the military. I get it. Having said that, beat the hell out of your wife and blame it on your military experience and see how far that gets you. Kill someone and blame it on your military experience and see how far that gets you. At some point, everyone has to take responsibility for their own actions.

Regardless of real military service or fake military service, regardless of how he was "misinterpreted". He was/is way out of line by threatening people.

I hope he stays banned. He was/is abusive and truly added little to a conversation. There have been others like him and he was warned.

I'm certainly not saying it's right to threaten people and i understand that such threats are easier to take lightly when an ocean separates you from the person doing it.

I totally get supporting friends. However, part of being a friend is telling someone when they are wrong. ISS was clearly wrong.

I wonder how many would have stood up for ISS had he followed up on any of these threats?

ISS was always boastful. Whatever happened to letting actions speak? His actions were unveiled threats of violence against those who in no way threatened him.

And it does not take 2 to TANGO when one is mentally unstable or a sociopath. Just to be in the wrong place at the wrong time is enough.

I thank Rich for his service to our nation, and I hope he has a long life with good friends and loving family. But I agree that AR has no place for people who can not learn from warnings and like to threaten with graphic violence.

He has always been even tempered, friendly and is very interesting to talk to. He is a little boastful but no more so than most of us on AR. He has seldom mentioned his military service when we have been together. I once told him thatI didn't wqant to discuss Viet Nam and he has never brought the subject up again.

I have known Rich for 30 years and consider him a good friend.

We have not always agreed on everything and we have had our share of arguments but there has never been any threats or insults.

Saeed when are you going to make the call of suspended or banned or have you already done so?

I always thought that he was probably a veteran during Vietnam. I am a veteran as well, did 20 years and retired in 2013. I know what I have done, and what I have not done. In my mind I wasn't a grunt, so I wasn't one of the cool kids. I'll tell you that, it is rare to meet people who are honest about their service, and I think it is sad.

When I think about my own service, I don't think it is all that impressive. I lived all over the world, and got to do some interesting thing, but I was mostly what grunts call a POG or "person other than grunt". I worked in Aviation and did a tour in the Attache world.

It is funny how everyone that went to Vietnam was a Special Forces/SEAL/F-4 Pilot/River Boat gunners mate. For some reason, it seems like everyone that did 4 years got out as an E-6 or E-7 or Major or LCDR, even though that was rare in Vietnam and not really possible now.

Maybe he was as cool as he claims, maybe he wasn't. I don't care, I have had fairly normal dealings with him for the past two years, I would say he is friendly if not a friend. Sometimes he is on the sauce or off his medication or prayer isn't working and he is an insufferable bastard (he prefers curmudgeon (his generation doesn't like to be called a bastard like us Pepsi kids do).

Rich also claims to have killed a thousand nandilions and lesser werefalcons. He hunted with some interesting people and was a big shot writer for precision shooting magazine. I guess? I don't know it isn't worth my time to look any of it up.

He used to e-stalk me on here, and he is part of the reason I left, and eventually came back a couple years later.

I wish him well, and hope he gets over it.

I consider both Shane and Idaho as my friends.

I have seen this happen with a number of people, including some members here.

I don't know ISS other that reading his posts. He seems like a harmless curmudgeon. I've never heard anyone who has had dealings with him say he was dishonest.

I see guys here being rude to some members such as Shootaway. He is picked on constantly yet always takes the high road. I see no reason to be rude but some guys think they are funny by doing so and following a crowd. Some guys just feel really bold on the internet.

In the US we are very fortunate to have freedom of speech. Threats other than to our President do not land us in detention.
