Gentlemen,

If you want to have a laugh, do a google search for CONRAD EVARTS.

You will find all sorts of funny stuff, including a video he apparently uploaded which gives you a virtual hunt with Craig!!

Sadly, that video seems to have been taken down, thanks to you old ladies and codgers.

What business is it of yours to stop poor Conrad have some fun at the expense of some more famous than himself rotflmo

It is alright now Conrad.

You ARE famous!

At least with the old ladies here.

You can come play anytime. We enjoy the entertainment clap

Oh, that is rich!

Here it is, in case it gets edited.

Why A Hunting Cameramans Job is Better Than Yours

First, everyone tells me so. Second, if it’s blue collar, I probably did some form of your job before I got fired and inspired. A brief look at my pre-camera monkey resume: paperboy, amateur landscaper, snow shoveler, gas fitter, appliance repairman, furniture deliverer, factory janitor, beer fridge stocker at Korean grocery store, pharmacy delivery man, flower delivery man, balloon delivery man, water heater installer, deckhand on a sailboat, cook, dishwasher, day laborer carrying heavy stuff, day laborer carrying light stuff, photo developer, sheet rocker, painter, dumpster diver, auto mechanic (major fail), maintenance man at a pizza crust factory, janitor, tard tackler, salesman of everything from citrus to radio ads, eye-in-the sky traffic reporter, guerilla marketer, telemarketer and many shady vocations I can’t remember or choose not to divulge.

I started paying income taxes when I was 14. I noticed about that age that I needed cash to get out of the poorest neighborhood in Washington State — Hillyard, Google it — so I got a special child labor work permit from the city of Spokane. The next thing I learned was I couldn’t do a boring job, and I spent the next 15 years doing whatever I could not to be crushed by boredom.

One thing I’ve proven to myself is that I’ll take hunger, homelessness and uncertainty over the soul-swallowing demon of boredom. I threw it all away and risked it all over and over until the roulette ball of life landed here: The Number One Camera Monkey for Petersen’s Hunting TV.

Why am I here and you’re there? I’m no career counselor but I think there are three reasons: 1) I’m insane; 2) I have massive cajones that generate gallons of testosterone; and 3) I’m a mastermind. I never chickened out on my dream.

I just emailed Peterson's Hunting to let them know what I think of them allowing someone like Conrad Evarts to run his mouth on their website and represent the hunting and firearms community in such a negative manner. I will be doing the same with any sponsor that is on Conrad Evarts blog.

We all have good employees that we do not want to represent us publicly. I really question anyone that works with this immature young man as to why they have not put a muzzle on him.

4. I'm Surrounded by Exciting People
I don’t have to suffer dull people -- except in Canada. The people I’m surrounded by are amazing achievers, adventurers, and nutcases. They play by their own rules and create their own worlds. They’ve seen the world, and they are bold, intense and fascinating. Einstein said, “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.” The only time I encounter mediocre minds now is when I board a Delta flight or go to Canada.

At first I was stunned by his post, but then I read it again and thought it was actually pretty damn funny. Sometimes you have to be able to laugh at yourself.

The part about the Jack O'Connor bible and blasting into 2013 was hilarious as well. Wendell, you and I must have the same sense of humor.

Interestingly, the current issue of Fortune mag has a story about a woman named Danae Ringelmann who started a company called...Indiegogo. Where have seen that before?

Indiegogo plans to take advantage of equity crowdsource funding when it becomes legal; right now it is not, so it is essentially the internet version of pandering for money at this stage. If Craig wants to hang his hat out, that is business. It isn't what I would do. I just want to know more about Rigby...

Anyway, Conrad is quite the character. He certainly is funny as hell. I hope he sticks around as well. Sometimes you need fresh blood.

So why didn't he put in the now ubiquitous "full disclosure" statement when he wrote about them?

I suspect more of this goes on that we know. I know Greg Rodriquez had his own booking company. I didn't read too many of his stories, so I don't recall him ever writing, "If you want to book this hunt, contact..."

There is another famous writer who supposedly was a paid consultant for an optics company, a stock company, and a barrel company and who wrote about those brands non-stop. The writer is a great guy, but this stuff is just totally unacceptable. I can't believe publications don't make writers sign a statement that they have no vested interest in what they write about. This kind of behavior would never be tolerated in government or most private industry. Ask any ten people on the street who aren't on AR or hunters, and how do you think they would respond? I can tell you this: you didn't do this when Bob Petersen ran the show.

Obviously some of you will never be convinced that this kind of behavior is ethical. Some probably think it is to be revered and emulated - or even virtuous.

I am friends with a NASA astronaut; he has been in space three times. Anyway, on a Grand Canyon hike he told me that he was at a breakfast symposium a while ago for NASA and he sat next to Neil Armstrong. Armstrong was talking to my friend Don and told him the last time he had ever signed an autograph was when Don's class graduated astronaut school. Armstrong went on to say he had many offers to sign his name for money, but he always refused. One guy offered him a million dollars to sign 250 postcards; again, he refused. He even refused to sign for free, because he never wanted his moon landing associated with someone else making money. Now that is virtue.

True, Saeed. But internet insults are a special category.

It's very hard for me to take them seriously. Especially when someone blasts them at all comers, as Conrad has done. Way too impersonal for an insult.

With internet insults, I generally just stand back, at a distance, and judge them on their objective merits. An insulter who is willing to take ownership and who is creative and effective gets extra points in my scoring criteria.

Conrad did not hide behind an anonymous screen name, as so many do (including, by the way, the AR member who started this thread). And he did not resort - again, as so many do - to mere profanity. Any idiot can do that.

Instead, Conrad was pretty creative with his insults - I don't believe I have ever heard the term "douchenozzle" before. And somewhat effective. IMHO, he hit fairly close to the mark with his generational, and colorful, diatribe against his real and perceived critics.

Of course, I don't mean by praising these qualities to excuse stupid or bad behavior. But our first time visitor has no corner on that market. Sad to say, any number of past and present AR members have far outdone him on that score.

And again, Conrad did own up to his deeds and apologize. That also counts for a lot with me.

Not that any of this matters for anything, of course. Wink Big Grin

The irony of AR. Two threads down from this is a post about a lion hunt by an outdoor personality/tv host and booking agent. Lots of "attaboys" and congratulations yet nobody seems to ask or care if he discloses if he pays full price or not...but everyone sure wants to find out if CB does or not. Once again, it should be pretty common sense for anyone with any business background. And to be honest, I could care less.

Everyone has there own opinion as is there right. I have meet Craig several times spoken to him on email and phone on many occasions and have always found him to be a true Gentleman and genuinely nice guy. and i know he donates a lot of his time and energy to great causes. I enjoy his writing and since of humor. If he had a dollar for every kid he has encouraged and spent time talking to he would be a very very wealthy man. I have seen him stop everything he was going including Radio and TV interviews to speak to kids at DSC. for all he does for our sport. I thank him

Exactly! +1.

Aaron Neilson has not disclosed how much he's paid for not has he mentioned the vested interests he has on most of his hunts.

I have no first-hand opinion of Boddington. I guess I may have seen him in person once, never spoken to him. Bought his book on buffalo AFTER taking a couple of buff. Thought it was excellent, and matched my experience. I recommend it to someone considering hunting buffalo hunting for the first time.

What I thought I would read in this thread, but didn't see it, was someone mention how there would be no indignation at all if someone was offering to sell a game jersey worn by Bart Starr, a used ball cap worn by Babe Ruth, or a bloodied glove worn by O.J. Simpson. Maybe a hunting shirt worn by CB would appeal to someone, and worth their money. Personally, I'll pass.

My wife thinks I have way too many used hunting shirts. I keep them because they are covered with good memories. A used hunting shirt from CB would carry none of that for me.

I just assumed most, if not all of CB's hunts were paid for via endorsements, etc. It doesn't make me mad, just jealous.

Simpson. Maybe a hunting shirt worn by CB would appeal to someone, and worth their money. Personally, I'll pass.

Yeah but...

I mean, were they washed first or vacuum packed for freshness or what?

Do you really believe that?!

I have been a Boddington fan for years. I met the man once and he was one heck of a nice guy.

Having said that, Conrad's rant underscored the lack of forethought that went into this venture. I am shocked and disappointed that CB would allow an ass such as Conrad to use his image/reputation to try to drum up $9k.

Last time I checked Conrad's campaign had netted $120.00. Do you think CB was pissed when he realized that his reputation was taking a hit over Conrad's failed campaign?

I wonder if Conrad made his apology because he was truly contrite, or if it was prompted by an irate CB asking him, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?!".

When someone is forced to apologize the apology has no value, IMO.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Ah give the guy a break.

It's possible that he's a not a complete douchnozzle and has sinned through earnestness rather than malice, isn't it?

Although he did rather throw himself into the deep end of a 75ft pool with his early comments he had a taco and saw the light.

The real question this all boils down to is this; do you think he would have voted for Obama?

As an agent, he isn't obliged to. The interest he has in the hunt is clear. He's an agent. He sells the hunt for a commission. An agent endorsing a hunt is advertising his services, not necessarily the service of the outfitter.

Plus, you have it backwards. The outfitter didn't pay him to hunt. He paid to hunt. Therefore it can not be a paid endorsement.
