We don't care about what you think of long range hunting or what you think is possible or impossible. We will continue to hunt how we hunt and shoot how we shoot. As to the comment made several posts back for giving the anti's more ammo I find that funny because most bunny huggers don’t know the difference between hunting at 50 ft or 1000 yards they just know it is hunting. Notice the poster has not said much since he was flamed by a few? He built a specialized weapon and practiced then made a great shot and was hung out to dry one of the reasons I left this site for a while and went to long range sites where I didn’t have to hear what someone’s opinion on what possible or impossible was. Maybe worry about getting yourself in shape for your up and coming hunt and worry about getting your own shooting up to par. We will worry about us. Also AZ please pm me or post what magazine you write for so I make sure I never buy a copy or if I belong to one I can cancel it. Thank you. GA Sixgunner I think you should join www.highcountryshooters.com It is a nice site with a small town feel that us ND bull semen hicks like. Which I feel is hilarious being called from an old MN resident my guess is he lived around the cities because he sure has that cities I am better than you attitude and he is probably a Gopher fan to boot.

Dakor:

I don't dislike you as a person, I just don't agree with you. I realize I will not change your mind, but I do enjoy pointing out some of the challenges of long range shooting.

But do stop digging a hole - I lived in northern Minnesota, not the cities.

Happy hunting.

PS: Your Gopher comment was pretty funny. Maybe it is because I am in the South this week and they are football krazy down here. Anyway, you made me laugh.

I have not dug a hole at all and if I did I don't mind getting my hands dirty it is good for the soul. Here is to the gopher fan from a Sioux fan. moon I would say you must be from the Warroad, Roseau area. You could be an Iron ranger but from the boys I know up there they have more respect for others and someone like yourself that hands out insults like you do would not do well up there.

There are two possibilities in that statment. IMO, there is no such thing as a 926 yard chip shot. That leaves the remaining possibility. Big Grin

If 926 yards is a chipshot, why would you harp about it?

I don't believe this is hunting nor do I feel long range shooting at living targets is ethical

However, my opinion and 3 buks might get you a coffee at Starbucks.

LONG range shooting. Good
Long range shooting at animals bad.

That simple

It would about a half a cup, or a very small one.

That was a good shot with a rifle with the stock cut off, not a pistol by any stretch of the imagination. I however am in Jeffeosso's camp, in that I don't feel that long range shooting at living targets is ethical.

When I was young I would occassionally take a shot that, I knew at the time was too long, but luck was always on my side and I made the shot. About six years ago I tried a shot, on a bet from the guys I was hunting with at a deer at about 450 yards with a 375 H&H with a 270 grain handload at 2750 fps.

I hit the deer and after tracking it for about 300 yards I found it very much alive with all it guts hanging out. I think if I could have given the deer the rifle and let it shoot me for what I had done I would have. In any event that ended the long range shooting at game. There are just to many vaiables at work here and too much room for human error to make it ethical.

In my mind there is no trophy out there grand enough to take the chance of subjecting that coveted trophy to that type of suffering. We owe the game we hunt much more than that.

Just my 2 cents worth.
