Bartsche: The comment about varmintguy really got me laughing. He really ripped me up, because I liked the 220 Swift, while he was promoting the 204 Ruger. I will give Ol Varmint credit though, since they let him back on Accurate Reloading, he has been civil to all if not downright nice.

Thanks for the good laugh though!

To some guys trolling is a form of amusment. It's fun to them - like writing nasty stuff on phone booths, public bathroom walls, and especially someone's phone # "call 555-5555 for a good time". The more attention it gets, the better. Carving their initials or something worse on the church pew, or drawing pictures in the hymnals, during the sermon, is another favorite passtime for this type. Wink Peeing on someones flowers or vegetable garden is their style. Annoying sleeping dogs. Annonomous nasty letters in the suggestion box at city hall is another one, as well as keying someone's new car, or ice-picking their tires. There's something about the anonymity, that lets the Tasmanian Devil loose. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SU44KwIfBXM

Then there's the notorious lurker type, like ketchup-if-he-can, who occasionally posts something especially inflamitory and nasty, in personal attacks.

Seems to me that truthfully saying someone posts initiating notoriously nasty and inflamitory personal attacks, is not the same as a nasty personal attack. (Yo mama, for example) But I doubt you would know the difference if it bit you. But really, surely even you noticed a difference in the ole boy's style. Heck, he makes ole HC look like an eagle scout. Wink

Also, I see a difference in giving a troll, or nasty lurker, a dose of his own medicine, compared to initiating the attack.

If someone initiates a personal attack on me, after one of my posts that he disagrees with, well then I have a choice. I can ignore the attack, or I can respond in a like manner, or perhaps I can change the tone with humor or irony. I can also play it straight, or just stay with the facts, or call opinion what it really is - opinion. I have chosen each path on different occasions. Generally, ole ketchup and you and another troll taught me something, which is the futality of responding to trolling posts in a like manner. I would rather have fun with it instead.

No, I don't consider my comment about ketchup as a personal attack, and it's not meant that way. It's just an observation and opinion, from my point of view, drawing inferences on his words and behavior.

That's another key aspect of this. There's a difference in addressing the behavior, or what someone said, or how they said it, compared to slaming or attacking the person. Drawing inferences from behavior, choice and timing of words, etc. is fair play. It's normal. We almost never know all the facts, so we have to draw inferences from partial info all the time, every day.

Taking exception to the behavior, addessing it directly, is not an attack on the person. Calling someone stupid, for example, is a personal attack, even though they may actually be stupid, or have said or done something stupid. Saying "that was a stupid thing to do", although not the best choice of words, is addressing the behavior, as an opinion. Saying "you are a stupid person" as evidenced by that behavior, is also an opinion based on a fact of behavior, but obviously the latter is more inflamitory, and personal. The difference of course is the word "you", instead of focusing on the event or thing or what was said. I could give other examples, but hopefully what I meant is clear enough.

I'm not saying that I am always successful with these distinctions, but at least I know what they are, and what they mean. I'm quite sure that many do not. I'm not sure about HC, as I suspect he wants it that way. I think he knows the difference. I dunno for sure, but I think he's no dummy, and chooses to make it personal, as a style. It's still trolling for his own amusment, at the expense of others. All this sheeat matters only if you want it to, otherwise feel free to ignore this post. It's too long to read, anyway. (TLTR)

Most likely, for those who understand what I'm saying and perhaps agree, it's like preaching to the choir. For the others, it probably won't make a bit of difference anyway. So, amuse yourselves. Obviously, we are talking about troll-itus, Wink and if this topic wasn't amusing, there wouldn't have been so many posts, and views.

1. That only took one shot from your 270Win(mo other shooters Killing it for you)
2. That you recovered the same day you took that one shot
3. That was more than 900 pounds
4. That had legal Antlers

Perhaps a better question for you would be:

1. How many elk have you killed???

2. How many elk have you "LOOKED AT"???

3. How many elk have you seen killed???

4. Do you still use those Blue Dot loads in your Model 70 for elk hunting???

**************************************************************************************

Hotsh#t my dearest hunting buddy, aka the slayer of "thousands", Ye ole butt shooter, and the Blue dot Boy

You must be on vacation because you haven't answered any of MY questions on your elk hunting experience. That makes me wonder about your experience in the elk hunting area other than "LOOKIN".

Is it possible that you haven't taken ANY elk of ANY SIZE??? Please tell me this isn't so. For to do so would invalidate all your bullsh#t on elk hunting and disclose the liar that you are. Do you think it's possible that since you haven't kill ANY Elk of ANY SIZE that you could be fibbing on those thousands of deer kills?????? We both know we don't want that to happen. Perhaps you have misplaced your hunting log with the numerous elk kills in it. Pray tell what a tragedy that would be and I hope that isn't so.

Kindly note your experience in the elk hunting area, as requested, to support your theories that you are the suppository of all knowledge relating to elk hunting. Many of us on this board are waiting anxiously for the diarrhea of knowledge that would gush forth from such a revelation.

Respectfully yours. middlefinger

Hot Core has seen fit to offer his opinion on the 270 vs 30-06 thread. It is based on his vast experience tracking wounded deer who were shot by novice hunter who used..what else/....a 270 of course! Seems everyone who uses a 270 in his neck of the woods is an inexperienced shooter who only gets the 270 because "it has less recoil than the '06". They then flinch off the shot because it doesn't. Makes sense to me......yah right, just about as soon as those pigs start flying.......

Well at least Hot Core seems smart enough to not post such idiotic reasoning on this thread.

I see Hot Core is hot (pun intended) and heavy (perhaps that to....is that where my donuts have been going???????) into air rifles down in the air rifle forum. He's got a .177 cal. Perhaps his next elk rifle?

Now I do have to admit to shooting an elk (Rocky Mountain type in NE Oregon) with an R9 .20 cal air rifle once. Well actually I shot a splotch of mud on the elk, hardly got his attention. Yes, it probably could have been construed as "hunting elk out of season" as it was 3 days before season opened. Couldn't have been tagged for illegal firearm as air rifles aren't fireearms in Oregon. Anyways it was a monster 6 point bull and my buddy got it opening morning with a .280 Remington. Maybe that was enough gun over the .270 Winchester for Hot Core????

Just thought I'd let Hot Core know the .177, even at a reported 1200 fps, isn't enough gun for elk. The .20 cal certainly wasn't but I wonder about my .22 M54 RWS.............

I'm sure we'll soon hear from Hot Core about his killing of "thousands" of whatever with his .177 air rifle..........

HC, you really should recognize the fact that many professionals working in mental health have stated that a person obsessed with the supposed homosexuality of other men, is usually "gay" himself, but, is attempting to cover this up by his accusations toward others.

I don't really care, as you are a total buffoon and deserve all of the animosity directed at you here, due to your false and foolish comments to and about far better men than you could ever be; but, maybe you might want to find a different means of attacking others, as this one reveals your real nature so obviously.

Hotsh$t;

Ye olde butt shooter. How are they hanging. OOppsss we've already talked about the fact that you are ball less in previous threads, or at least that's the opinion of the other posters. Being your hero is a heavy load for me to carry and I feel that responsibility and want to thank you for the title from the heart of my bottom.

But alas we wonder from the topic.

I would be happy to fill you in on the finer elements of reloading for large caliber handguns since your knowledge level on that point is also in the sewer. You don't reload for your large air pistol calibers do you?? I know... I know... it takes balls to shoot a 44Mag and ...........whoops there I go again referring to your nurtured state. I'm so sorry to bring that up again. I'm sure that you will respond in kind to my questions on your elk hunting experience..... right?.....right? Oh wait a second that would take some balls and yours are missing!!! dancing

Crimping a 44 mag case is critical in that upon recoil all the "thingys" in the chambers are thrown backward against the round "thingy" that keeps them in the cylinder. Going too fast???? I'm so sorry............I'll slow down.... If an insufficient crimp is applied to the bullet( the lead thingy on the end of the brass thingy) it will rebound off the round thingy and move forward. Now I sure that was confusing for you when we changed directions on the force of the recoil but something tells me you are familiar with things swinging both ways. I guess that explains the lack of balls as alleged.

Here is another posting from the Ruger forum on this topic. Get a dictionary out as some of these words might be a wee bit big for you. I know you can do it if you just apply your self but people have been telling you that for all your life and they are just waiting for you to try.

I happen to have a Buckeye Special 38/40--10MM convertible and it is a brute for strength.

I have data showing the 200 gr. Hornady bullet at 1400 fps.

Now that particular load is pretty hot and I didn't shoot a lot of them, but the 50 or so that I did fire presented no problems on extraction or showed any sign of excessive pressure.

The best load for deer hunting is 18/2400/200 Hornady for just under 1300 fps. I needed to buy a Lee factory crimp die to keep the bullets from migrating out of the mouth of the cases.

The 10MM is also viable as a deer cartridge in this gun as the 200 Hornady can be driven to velocities of 1250 fps and the case is stronger than the 38/40 case and handles pressure better.

It is very close to a .41 Mg. in power."

***********************************************************************************

That wasn't so hard was it??? Read Taffin on crimping heavy recoiling pistols and he will explain it to you also. I hope in all this confusion I haven't lost you. That is the last thing I would want to do.

Now about those questions on the Elk Hunting Experience. Do you have the balls (Again I'm so sorry to bring that up!!!!) to answer them??????? Knowing your character, sh$tty and your condition, ball less, I don't think you'll be able to respond.

Respectfully, middlefinger middlefinger middlefinger

How many have you Killed that meet all these requirements at the same time:

Hey Hotsh$t people are starting to think that you are a stinker and might be avoiding the questions. Tell them it isn't so.

We all know that your experiences are ................well,.... they are ball less!!!!

Respectfully, middlefinger

It’s amazing to me how so many people can destroy their credibility over one topic or one person. The fact that this thread has gone on this long is extraordinary.

The petty fighting and arguing makes you all look very small.
