Yep! Definitely that one! I'm not excusing Craig. I'm simply stating that there's absolutely no excuse today! NONE! We could go back and throw stones at the people who use to ride down lions on horses and shoot 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 at a time in one outing! However I don't think bringing up 100 year old history has much berring on today. What Craig Boddington did 20-30 years ago? Perhaps a bit more relevance, but not much outside of looking at the picute and saying don't shoot one of these! Abie giving the thumbs up to shoot a 2-3 year old lion last year you bet that's relevant! I'm not saying your wrong. I'm just saying what's the point?

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when you bring that up with Abie. If you've ever met him you'll know what I'm getting at. Wink

I haven't Andy, but don't think I wouldn't bring it up! I was at the Great Alaska Sportsman's Show this past weekend here in Anchorage. There was an outfit there named something or other, but also had something about "Out of Africa". I went up preparing to do battle, but luckily it was only a phrase and not the company name!

I'll just say that Abie is a bit hardheaded and leave it at that. Big Grin

Did you sell your Hollis yet?

Andy...no luck on that. I took it to Walter Earl up here who has lot's of experience selling doubles. I asked him what he thought it would sell for. The said a number several thousand above what I paid. Now I know I got a good deal on a nice rifle and figured it would sell for a couple more than I paid, but I was supprised/pleased by his estimate. Anyway he gets back from all the shows a month ago with my gun. I ask, "was it too much?" He says yeah, but I did get offers from a couple people (for a few k more than what I paid)! Roll Eyes Oh well. The rifle is magnificent and I'm thinking I'm hanging on to it for the time being. My monetary priorities are lion and marco polo rather than upgrading my double right now.

I didn't promise any rebuttal and would not know him if I saw him I am merely pointing out that you have no moral authority to take anyone else to task when your first post was an attempt to start an internet rumor about a PH. I believe you finally admitted that Robin Hurt could be just as guilty as the person you accused.

Sorry for the thread hijack. My last post on the hijack subject.

Not quite a rumor. A fact you have problems with. However, if you you are not the one that has his trophy confiscated, it's all good for others, correct ?

No I did not. I said the Wildlife Department would figure it out.

In the end, it will go to RHS, however, it really does not matter if InternCon gets it, as they will soon be out of business (IMO).

Ol'Frankie likes to spend money and will not be able to come up with the cash for class 1 areas. And who is going to hunt with a company that has class 3, 4 or 5 areas ?

But that is just my opinion.

I know when I do recover and am able to go back, it won't be to any class 3 areas.

Will be going to the 1's for sure.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but it wasn't me that started to rehash this.

I believe I was the first to bring-up CB's name. I only did so to point out that times have changed.

My lion was most likely younger than CB's, so obviously I am not taking a shot at him. I greatly admire him.

There are a lot of published photos of young lions killed by famous(and non famous) hunters. Because these photos are already out there, they could be put to use educating potential lion hunters.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

If you shoot the pride male instead of a young, but mature male, doesn't the new pride male immediately kill all of the cubs to get the females to come into heat? I see that killing a pride male as a means of harvesting not only him, but every cub in the pride.

Not all prides have dependant cubs Rich. The only pride males they are advocating taking are pride males in prides without dependant cubs when the lion is 6 or more years old.

Aaron- No disrespect but not alot of hunters would agree with shooting 11 lions...it is not something you eat, one doesn't carry a bigger rack than the last. No one doubts your love of Lions but If your line of work involves booking Lion hunts (which Iam sure it does) better look for another line of work ASAP.

Mr. Nelson, for many people hunting an animal has nothing to do with trophies or posession, but the actual game played while hunting. Each time you play it there are unique differences in the strategy, the quarry, and the outcome. Therefore each time has the possiblity of being a whole new adventure.
