Looks like March 9th, all.

We are aiming at that, anyway, now. We are working out the course of fire

We are planning on an event fee, very small, per shooter, not per rifle.

We will have lunch, tea, and sodas

Hoping to have a display where we can line up according to caliber and velocity.

Well, more than likely I would like to bring the .458 SOCOM, in AR-15 platform. Also, the .500 Phantom (.500 Jeffery REALLY SHORT) in a bolt gun and if we have it running, the .510 Njovu ... (.500 Jeffery short, which I suspect is a lot like the .500 Jeffe, only in an AR-10 platform) ... other than that, we have our .338 Spectre, but that is like a .300-221 Fireball and not in line with the theme of the gathering. If we could get our 20mm project working bewildered BOOM

(until futher notice)
March 9th,
From 10 to 4.. ish

We will have a course of fire consisting of 10 total shots fired. This won't be a PH course, but I hope its fun!!

The event will have a $10/person entry, with no per gun fee. this will go entirely to the range.

We will be providing SOME tables and racks for rifles, but please, if you have folding tables, do bring them.

Safety is my first concern, so NO LOADED GUNS outside of the firing line.

Please, bring out all your show and tell guns. If you like, and wish to share, bring some extra ammo. I am certain that you won't go home with loaded ammo if you want to share. Don't be surprised if someone wants to buy a round, either to shoot or to collect. I know that we all understand that bigbores cost alot to get brass and feed.

You can bring whatever you like, but you have to have a "big bore" to do the 10shot, and it has to be africa legal. Why? Heck, I don't know, but Marty's autoloaders will make us all look a bit silly...

We will have something for lunch, haven't much decided what yet. Will be something simple, like brisket or hotdogs, and tea.. basically, picnic food.

Sound good?
jeffe

Gives me chills thinking about it...

Instead, we are looking for 2 guys to don a Rhino costume as the front and back end. Don't want to put any holes in it though, (I'll lose the deposit) so this will be only for the .45-70 shooters........ sofa

At the present time, the range we are going to use for this match, has a paper only restriction on targets. We are working within their guidelines for this match.

I hope everyone has had a chance to look at the video from this thread: https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/...=459104597#459104597

Now, I know, and don't expect anything quite as elaborate at the Houston shoot but couldn't this thread lay the foundations for a Texas Big Bore Shoot/Assoc.?

We could do a yearly compititon, have different catagories, etc., etc. I think there might be enough shooters in and around Texas to get this going.

I think Jeff (i.e. jeffeoso) would make a great first president and get things rolling. Start off with a modest Assoc. fee to get things started and try and hold an even larger shoot next year.

When we are all at the Houston shoot it might be a great oportunity to have a short sit down and see and hear what everyone thinks about it.

I know this won't ever be quite as big as the NRA but if we get enough members think of the possibilites......buying discounts, member hunts, prizes!!!
