Here is picture of PH, with port lengthened
with my 585HSM. I also have change barrel
for my 700HE long case, which works in
the action also. Imagine over 20,000 ft lbs
in a PH with my 700HE long case. And the
gun behind in picture is the 700H 3.25"
in PH. Also in pic is the 585HSM cases. Ed

No- if I open the action bottom to the back to match
the longer port on top, there is room to put in
5/8" longer box, and use multiple boxes to make one I can
can feed 585HSM and long 700HE single stack.
And the bolt stop that fits under the left side
of the extractor ring can be set for longer cases
like my 700H 3.25 or left out and back of left lug
becomes the stop.Which fits the long port for
the 700HE and 585HSM.See picture.The bolt pictured
is set for longest cases with back of lug the stop.Ed

Pacnor does a fine job and their barrels provide excellent accuracy!

Ed,

Getting ready to send a new P.O. to MRC confirming the changes to my original order...

Any idea as to barrels for the 700H on the PH action?

Pacnor?

Mine, Matt's, and others 700 barrels are from Pacnor.
You just order them and they make them.
Same with 585 barrels. And they profile them
also if you want.

Here is picture of a Mauser 98 I put my 585HE long case in.
Now it isn't long enough for making a mag box to feed,
but still is a nice "little gun". Behind it is 585HE long
case in an Enfield. These two are my only "lighter" barreled
585HEs.Got the barrels that way. Not a huge fan of
skinny barrels.

With heavy barrels -I done two in FBWs- one on Ruger77-
two more in Enfield- one in NEF- one in BBK- one in PH.

Going to do with heavy barrels in future-
heavy barrel meaning 1" plus muzzle-
Ruger #1- Savage 112- The Khan autoloader I picture earlier.
CBC like I did 20ga in.They look great, want to do a
bunch of them. I like single shots.Ed

Some talk of 577-585s, here again
is ours showing it works in anything
a Gibbs works in.With a Gibbs for length.
From the way big game African hunters bragg
up the 577... I think 585 is best all around caliber,
especially our 585HE with modern slugs
and some horsepower.Case last forever with
577 level loads, and 20 loadings at 2400.
I can shoot 650 gr slugs in the one I did in NEF
at 2400 and extract cases with my fingers.
With longer straight cases you can get powders
that makes cases last.Minimum expansion= long life,Ed

Here is comparison picture of my bigger 585s
shown with 06 for reference.
1st is 585HSM, which I got in a PH.
2nd is 4" 585 Rimmed HM set up for
lower pressures getting high velocity
which I put in my 87 levergun as a singleshot.
3rd is 585HE which is in PH,Enfield and
a bunch of others.Ed
