As eluded to by npr345...Rich tells me that he has not sent a mean PM to anyone in years.

He says that he did make a crude derogatory remark about 0bama and his wife and boom...he got the e-mail right after saying he was "suspended."

That is Rich's story.

I'm sure the list could be longer.

However, Saeed makes the rules.

We have lost a lot of knowledge by losing those above and many others who chose not to put up with the bs.

Let's take this DISCUSSION(??????) to a different vantage point.

I have been on here for a few days myself, in fact a few days longer than yourself. Now, were the people you listed BANNED or did they just show a streak of intelligence and leave on their own???????????

Just because a person stops posting on here does NOT automatically indicate they have been banned!

I have no opinion on Mark Sullivan as a hunter/PH or human, but after reading Saeed's comments concerning Sullivan for almost 11 years now, I can understand why he would leave.

Maybe it has came time for the members of this site, long time or short time to step back for a few minutes/hours/days, to think about what the site means to them as an individual.

For some folks, or maybe all of us, it may be time or past time to take a break, whether for a few days/weeks or permanently from the site and ask ourselves what we, again as individuals are getting from our participation on the site.

I enjoy AR for the most part, would probably enjoy it more if I stopped making comments in the Crater, but for me it has been basically a beneficial experience, more so than the regional forums I participated on.

I find this thread interesting as it tells a great deal of the personalities involved.

The gents here that ISS was threatening to, chose not to go public with the issue until it was brought out for discussion--i.e. they didn't start an attack thread. That was honorable of them.

The gent to whom his wife was merely insulted began a cowardly veiled attack in a thread asking if ISS was dead. No threat was made--just a one word insult. Perhaps a little over sensitive?

As to the above insult, I doubt Rich would have made a random PM calling someone's wife a tramp or a ho. What has not been available for us to see in all these pages is the communication between Teddy and ISS that lead up the to alledged insulting comment. Could Ted have been rude and insulting to ISS first? (No, not Ted. He would never do that).

I'm off to a gun show for the day. It will be interesting to follow up on this in the evening and the next week. It really is an intersting thread. The folks who stand with ISS are to be commended for their loyalty.

Let's hope I sell a double or two.

Not a post about Rich the person, who I don't know, but in general. In my opinion, heated discussions about firearms, hunting, reloading all in the spirit that we as a group love all three and there should be some mutual respect is not only fine but should be encouraged. Personal attacks are unacceptable period.

Chuck

I find this thread interesting in that it would appear a AR has a large number of mind readers.

Mike

Legistine actu quod scripsi?

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

LEDVM--Doc, it sounds like you going to a horse race would be a no win deal. I'm guessing those high dollar horses you operate on are race horses. Plow horses aren't worth the kind of money you stated. At a horse race you would have to bet on the horse you operated on, otherwise would show lack of confidence in your work. If the horse won you'd be accused of having "inside" information about the horse. If you did good selecting the horses it would ruin your reputation. The guy that fixes and heals horses, would be known as a handicapper of horses.

Sir,
Actually...I work on almost exclusively Reining and Cutting Horses. The Texas government...for whatever reason...has never been horse racing friendly. Texas could have been the horse racing capital of the USA but the Texas Legislature has always put the "kibash" on it do to an innate dislike for pari-mutual betting. Racing in Texas is all but dead today.

Reining and cutting horses with a smathering of pro-rodeo horses, miscellaneous show horses, reined cow-horses and a small few etc make up my caseload.

OK, I'll give you a pass on not knowing who Roy D. Mercer is, but with knocking on 8k posts, I would think you would know the Russian humorist known on this forum as Vashper.

Of course, you could always click the third icon from the Left at the top of the page and find out for your self. It's worth the time to do.

If Saeed is not concerned about how many posts a person makes, why should any regular member care?

I mean really, none of us were/are forced to participate on any discussion, it is all voluntary.

This is a recurring concept I have seen on other sites, and really do not understand the reasoning behind it.

On every site I have been on, it is left up to the individual members to participate at the level they choose, but it seems like there are always members that find fault with the level of participation of other members.

My question is WHY????? If the management of the site does not care, WHY do individual members care????

This site, like any other I have participated on, does not force anyone to join, it is purely voluntary! None of us pay any membership fees or dues, we can leave the site any time we choose, so WHY do some members of such sites have a problem with the amount of participation of other members?????????

I find it an interesting study of human nature that those who call a thread worthless, a witch hunt, want it closed, should have never been opened, none of anyone's business, etc. are many times one of the top five contributors. Big Grin

Your mileage may vary.

I agree 100%. The question remains why did ISS insult Ted's woman? It would be interested to see the emails between Ted and Rich that prompted the comment. Teddy is coy, but not innocent. This thread was, indeed, a set up towards a man that can't defiend himself here.
Good post and insight.

Why would the subject of any member's wife even come into the conversation?

Even if it did, what sort of individual would stoop so low as to insult her?

Some people here are trying to find excuses where non exist.

How many time do I have to say that he was banned for breaking our rules repeatedly, despite being warned.

He could be a saint in his real life, still would not have made any difference.

You are correct on that for sure Saeed!

I have decided that sometimes the lack of an clear answer is just confirmation of what we knew the answer to be all along.

thanks for having a great forum.

Nothing subtle 'bout that, I knew this was a setup from Day 1, but didn't think it would play out to this many pages!!

Whatasetup, and I think totally on purpose.

I think others have been run off from AR without being banned. Many who could contribute:

Ivan Carter
Harry Selby (wow!)
I'm sure the list could be longer.

If he wasn't banned for threats made recently and we believe he mellowed out and hadn't sent any threatening PM's in years....that begs the question.

What was he really banned for? coffee

Ivan was not banned. He is extraordinarily busy.

Hi Larry, I wasn't referring to banning, just to have left the forums. I realize he's very busy, but I just wondered why he stopped posting, other than just being very busy. I know Craig left for the BS, and I inquired if Ivan left for similar reasons.

Cheers, J

CRAIG got himself into that silly situation where he was selling his used shirt!!

Then his little side kick came over to teach all of us a lesson.

In an open forum, one cannot stop individual members questioning other members on their behavior.

They of course can defend their actions, if they think they are in the right.

I am offended! I want to be included in the formation of the new Republic of Dumbassesstan! The founding fathers have spoken on this thread, the most asinine thread to ever make it to 15 pages on AR. (With any luck)

This is my meaningful contribution post. tu2
