Excellent!

From the sequence of photos it seems like that ancient bull was waiting on the airstrip for you to shoot him! Big Grin

Fast work drawing first blood in any case. Cool

Congrats to the successful hunters and best of luck to all, including in staying out of the quicksand!

Saeed, looks like a decent amount of elephant dung in the sand river beds?

Yes.

Lots of signs of elephant.

Maktoum has his bow, saw several different animals but hasn’t managed to get close enough.

A bit of wind at night as usual, but dead quiet now at 4.

You guys are not wasting any time. Congrats on the early successes. Good to hear Tony has opened his account also.
Hoping Maktoum gets his chance with his bow this year. Good to see he's sticking with it.

Glad to see everyone made it safely in to camp and the tally started with a very nice buff.
What rifle and cartridge are Tony and Chris using, looks to be a fairly new rig and has a decent sized hole in the barrel?

Got back to camp for lunch after shooting another old bull!

We are the ones taking it easy.

The others are VERY busy hunting!

Saw several tracks but the wind was wrong.

Then saw a very old bull walking through the grass and the wind was good.

A short stalk and we were loading him up.

Very easy two bulls so far.

I was wondering about that. Interesting that the carcase is untouched by scavengers.

Great photos.I especially liked the photo of the hippo and its calf.

The are looks a lot drier for this time compared to your previous photo chronicles. There were so many bubbling streams and greenery everywhere .

Pity you probably didn't have any opportunity to get drone footage of the charge Saeed Big Grin Eeker. That would have beem impressive on film !
Glad your reflexes were sharp enough to keep you from harm.

We were driving to a lion bait.

When we got to that valley, a few hundred yards before, we saw a bushpig.

We went after him, he was going towards the lion bait.

About 200 yards from the bait, we saw the lion.

He was looking straight at us.

We stopped.

He started walking towards us, growling, at one stage he was behind a bush.

As soon as he cleared the bush, he took off towards!

I fired a shot at him, that turned his charge, and ran off to the side.

Another shot put him down.

A lesson to be learned here.

To shoot a lion, one has to follow a bush pig!
