Dan, sad news I am afraid! You have lost your crown! Both Alan and Roy agreed today that the croc I shot knocks spots of both you and me in looks! Or rather lack of! We put a hippo as bait, and left it for three days. Today we found literally unaccountable number of huge crocs. I shot one which was darker in color. Turned out he was in bad shape. Apparently wounded by a hippo as it apears.! There was a unanimous vote that he is uglier than us! On the way back to camp we met Maktoum and his crew. One look at the croc and shouts of "WOW! THAT IS ONE UGLY CROC!" I have pictures from a trail camera we put there, and will post them. Chris got a wildebeest. Maktoum is still out. He is trying for a buffalo with a bow.

Wow! It is a miracle that the croc's upper part is still attached to the head. Saeed, is that lake a natural water body or the result of some sort of a dam somewhere up? Thank you. Saeed, I’m afraid you’re right, that is one ugly croc. Even uglier with the mess you made of him. That croc looks like he’s as old as you and Roy! And uglier than us! Robin, I’ll jump in for Saeed here; the Tanzania Government built a dam across the Rufiji River at Steiglers Gorge. Alan’s concession is something like 60 kilometers upstream from the dam. The new Lake that is filling is called Lake Nyerere, after former President Julius Nyerere. It will be a huge lake when full. As you can see, Alan will be offering excellent croc and hippo hunting in the future.

Your shot certainly didn't help that croc's looks! Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. He looks like you owe him money." - Robert Ruark, Horn of the Hunter, 1953 NRA Life, SAF Life, CRPA Life, DRSS lite

There sure isn't any shortage of crocs there. Alan should have lots of croc hunting for as long as he has the area. What did you blow that head up with? How near full is the lake now? Great variety eating on that hippo. Fine pictures. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Join the NRA today!" LM: NRA, DAV, George L. Dwight

Don't be too sure .... it won't take long before some anti-hunting freak will claim the Nile Crocodile to be a species faced with extinction and has to therefore be protected.

This last Wildebeest is the best by far and hard to beat ... call him a daggaboy of his species.

Maktoum got a buffalo I shot a croc. Very handsome one compared with the last one! Must be a citizen of Hollywood. Looks almost like wearing make up!

Throughout Tanzania and especially the Selous, Wild Dogs are plentiful and quite frankly, a scourge as they decimate populations of wildlife especially the localized species, i.e. Bushbuck, Reedbuck, Impala, Kudu, in particular. Back in the heyday you actually had one on a 21 day license.

Yesterday was our last hunting day. I shot an impala and a kongoni. Chris shot a zebra. Everyone had an absolutely fantastic time. Tony, Chris and Maktoum are in charge of the final evening BBQ. Lots of hunting dogs in this concession, and I love them! I like their attitude. Totally unafraid of humans. Laying down and polaying feet away from us without any bother.
