Nice photos from the drone. One wouldn't be able to see the croc nestled up in the bush from the bank. "Early in the morning, at break of day, in all the freshness and dawn of one's strength, to read a book - I call that vicious!"- Friedrich Nietzsche

Tony shot a zebra Maktoum shot a wildebeest I shot a sable and a croc. We had an open hide for the croc. Got there just after 12. Watched many big ones feeding sitting in the open sun. Decided to leave and have lunch and come back later. After lunch we went back. The wind was percect, and hyeana, two warthogs and a water buck came to visit! Eventually we decided to shoot one of several in the water with their heads out. I fired and there was an all might commotion. Alan was shouting "shooting him again! shoot him again! No! Don't shoot! He is finished" Down we went to the water. We pulled him partially out of the water. His eyes were blinking as we touched them, despite a large chunk of his skull smashed! Alan suggested I shoot him again. I went to get my rifle which was leaning againt a tree. The croc decide to go into reverse and back into the water! A shot into his spine stopped that. Our game scout brought his hand fishing line. And within a few minutes had 13 cat fish! Lions were roaring in the camp at 2:30 this morning. Creating such a racket that woke all of us up.

Had the same experience with a croc. While getting him ready for pics, I thought I saw him blink as I opened his jaws and stuck a stick in to keep them open. Later, they took him to the skinning shed and that afternoon my wife and some friends visited the skinning shed and they all swore that they saw him blink. Finally when the feet started to move the skinners finished him.

This was a bit of an amazing day. Roy shot two buffalo, I shot one. Chris shot a kongoni. Maktoum is not back yet. BUT! BUT! What is the likelyhood of someone coming across hunting dogs chasing and killing not one, but two seperate animals. We saw a pack of 4 hunting dogs attacking a bull kongoni. We stopped to look, and I flew the drone and recorded the whole adventure. Ryan, hunting with Chris, saw a bunch of hunting dogs chasing a waterbuck. They videoed that too!!?? What are the chances of THAT??

This is a truly game-rich area. You are seeing great numbers of a wide variety of classic East African big game animals. Including Cape buffalo. No wonder the wild dogs are so busy! Thanks for taking the time to share these absorbing photos. They are so encouraging! The Selous is still producing. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Saeed, what a fantastic day! Both nice buffalo that Roy shot, and damn fine Kongoni. I wonder when the last time was that Roy shot 3 animals in a day as the hunter? You guys are wearing out Nyoni, Robert & Lema! Fascinating wild dog photos! Madaba has a large population of wild dogs, as I saw packs of 9 & 12, now add 4 & 14; that’s a lot of different wild dogs especially given that other packs haven’t been seen by anyone yet. Lots of leopards, lions and hyenas too, so big predator population. As Michael Robinson said, it’s truly a game rich area with large variety of species. Madaba is a special place!

I saw the drone photos of the wild dogs attacking the kongoni and I was thinking what are the odds of catching something like that on film? Amazing!
