On several of my hunts I have urged various PHs, both mine and those I have shared camps or hotels with, to get involved with the AR forum. Usually I get polite silence. When I do get a response it is along the lines of;" No way, there are too many loose cannons there waiting to start slinging mud over things they generally don't know. It isn't worth having my reputation hurt by people who have never hunted with me and don't even know me."
I think we may want to take a good look at how we comport ourselves here.

Terry - I think that is the opinion of "Most" professional outfitters/PH's out there. We have a lot of good ones on AR, but just let one "tiny, little" thing go wrong and they to will be thrown under the bus by lots of folks here. I applaud the ones who do post here, but don't blame the ones who don't for one minute.

I have heard similar. I won't repeat exactly what was said. Smiler

This was from an outfitter that does participate on other forums.

Thats too bad as this is the finest board I've ever found. Just about every subject or game plan is covered here by folks that participate and are willing to help others anyway they can.

That's been my experience as well. I've booked two trips to Africa that I saw on the Outfitters hunt forum and both were great hunts.

However, I don't blame the PH one bit!

Thank you Wendell.

Would our members rather we run the site in the same manner as most hunting and shooting sites on the Internet?

Where if you do not agree with certain individuals, or policies, your posts are deleted, and ultimately you are banned?

Or would you rather we continue to have an open forum?

What is that old saying?

"With freedom comes responsibility"!

We do have heated discussions - HEALTHY heated discussions. And I hold absolutely no grudge against those I disagree with.

In fact, I will be happy to share a drink, or a meal, here at my house with anyone from AR.

As I have done, on many occasions in the past.

Is that drink sharing limited to "your house? LOL.

Many a time I have a hard time understanding how you can put up with the bullshit that's slung your way. Though at times I see what I feel is baiting on your part too.

Please leave it open as it is now. You do have much more tolerance than I do with some of these guys.

Some yrs ago there was a talk show on our local tv stations: "The Joe Pine Show". He bad mouthed his sponsors terribly, and the station too. Sure thing, in just a very few months his show was eliminated.

Am going to send you a pm in a few, am having some questions on the vid stick.

Thank you and for one I very much appreciate this forum and your generosity.

I think most who post here are normal and rational. There are the odd ducks and the hysterical types. Overall, this is far better than any of the other sites I have been on.

As Saeed said, with freedom comes responsibility. I prefer the lack of advertising and the direct type of communication that goes on here.

There are a bunch of operators and PH's that post here. The bad ones stay away for good reason.

Overall, I would not worry about reputation. You cannot control what others think and I believe the good far outweighs the bad goes on here.

An example is ARbay - try cheating someone there and see what happens! Ask a few that have been scorched by the self policing that goes on here. It works better than Ebay.

Bait Babe or whatever you call her is anyhting but attractive. In fact she looks like a man perhaps she is a lesbian but she is ugly to a hetero man. I guess you are a small man with small self esteem who puts his ugly wife on display looking for accceptance. Your "Bait Babe" is anything but a babe.

Your yearning for acceptance on an internet forum is pathetic.

WHOA! Unless this is some private joke that I don't understand, this is waaay over the line. Saying something like that about someone's wife or girl friend in Texas would not be taken kindly.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Saeed, I think AR is a wonderful forum and well run. Kudos to you for encouraging and allowing open and honest debate. I enjoy and appreciate the banter as well as the information to be gained.

I would just change one thing, I would shit can ZombieKiller. Flushing that turd down the toilet would be just what he deserves. What a reprehensible excuse for a human being. Attacking a women, particularly one bravely facing a major challenge in life, is just about as despicable an act as I have ever heard of . . . uncalled for, unjustified and uncouth.

I must have missed that deleted post.

But, if it involves ZK, there is no surprise there at all.

Remember a while back, he came here to advertise their brand new web site, and asking our members to join them.

I wishes them the best of luck.

His answer was that AR is on its death bed - that is why they started their website, to give you all some place to recover on when AR is dead.

Funny thing is, apparently theirs has gone the way the dodo did.

Apparently all due to - if you don't agree with us, you are banned policy.

Nope.

AR has always been an open forum, and that is the way it is going to remain.

I will also say that in Texas, it is very bad form to critize a mans pickup truck, his dog, his gun and his wife...

I did a little search here on AR and saw some pictures of Bait Babe, and she looks pretty "shiny" to me.

Which in Texas is a compliment.

I can also say that my wife of 30+ years had been my best hunting buddy. She has been on many backpack hunts, many hunts in bad, rainy below zero hunts, living in a tent, for as many as 21 days at a time, where every day was below zero.

The only "bad hunt" WE ever had was our last trip to Zim, a 35 day hunt where we were in country for 49 days.
After this trip I swore I would never take her back to Africa again...

SHE shot more stuff than I did, and a bigger cape buff as well, with a Double Rifle of course... shocker Big Grin

Please don't change a thing. I constantly am looking, and learning on this forum. And I use the "Ignore" function. It is a feature I use rather sparingly but I don't have to see the BS that some of the ones that never learned manners, post.

Overall, AR is a lot like a bar. There are a few unmitigated A-H's but you just ignore them, unless you want to go to their level, and then you annoy the rest of the normal folks just like they do...

I have mentioned this place to a few PH's and outfitters. Most actually say something along the lines of "I live this life all the time, why would I want to spend more of what little time I have at home doing that?" But they also seem to be aware of discussions around here, so I expect more than a few lurk.

I also can see why some outfitters and PH's don't want to deal with the trial by internet around here. This place does get a little clique-y at times.

That being said, I never have put anyone on ignore; given where I work, if utter nonsense drove me to distraction I would be certifiable by now. I can ignore stuff pretty well without the ignore function.

I think Saeed's policy is the best one.
