The guys from K-Var are importing Zastavas into the US. I've emailed them and asked about importing the centerfires and lefties. I also told them about this forum and asked them to stop by and talk to us. Right now they are only importing the rimfires but I've asked them about the big bores. http://www.k-var.com/shop/home.php?cat= Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. They're located about 10 minutes from me. I'll drive by and check them out. In the event that it's a storefront, what was the count of LH Zastavas people are committed to buying? George

What price and what calibers? I had spoken for two the last go round but some things have changed since then. Still interested though. Mart "...I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprize, and independance to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks." Let us know what calibers might be available, if you can. The Zastava web site was pretty confusing, last time I looked. Are they offering 9.3x62, .375H&H. et al.? Depending on price and all I would still be in for at least one.

Let's assume .375H&H and .458 Win. Mag. If i can tell K-VAR fifty LH rifles, they may go for it. Only then would they probably give a price. If the price is not good or there aren't enough commitments, the order won't go in. George

George, the sales agent I talked to is named Elliot. He was going to bring the subject up with his manager. It will probably make a stronger point if you could stop in there and visit in person. I'm in for a 458 at least and probably a small bore in 7mm or 257R, if available. Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. Yes. Beretta Australia has had both of these in LH. But they have not made any .458WM's in LH, despite those being listed on the website. Let 'em know there's demand, guys! Cheers, Doug

I would be particularly interested in one that is in 9.3x62 and another that could be rebarreled to .416 Rem Mag or .416 Rigby. That would cover all my imaginary needs. All LH, of course. <g> Norman Solberg International lawyer back in the US after 25 years and, having met a few of the bad guys and governments here and around the world, now focusing on private trusts that protect wealth from them. OK folks, lets start the panic again. I received an email this morning from K-VAR: Frank, When I got in this morning my manager said that for the left handed models they would be able to put an order in with a regular stocking order from Serbia. I guess we aren’t going to stock them, but we can get them. He said that we would need to order a bunch at one time, get a $100 deposit and then we would place the order. Also, they are not stock to just the calibers we already brought in. It can be any caliber in the M70 or M85 line. I’m going to include the links below so that you can see the options. So basically we need a group of people that want them and then we will get them. If you have anymore questions let me know. M70 Lefthand http://www.zastava-arms.rs/cms/index.php?id=234 M85 Lefthand http://www.zastava-arms.co.rs/cms/index.php?id=241 Folks, Let's let George talk to these people today in person rather than deluge them with a bunch of questions. It looks like they think that they can get both the 70 and the 85 models which means that all chamberings would be available. So, before Zastava crushes our dreams again, let's see what these guys can do. I don't want to hype this too much before these guys check with Zastava but: The chamberings offered in the M70 are: .22-250 Rem, 6mm Rem, 6.5x57, 7x57, 8x57 JS,6.5x55, .270 Win, 7x64, .30-06 Spring., .25-06, .243 Win, .308 Win, .264 Win Mag, 7mm Rem Mag, .300 Win Mag, .375 H&H, .458 Win Mag, 9.3x62 Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. Hey guys. If the importer simply needs a certin number of rifles to justify the import you might consider opening it up to us poor right hand shooters as well. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Paul, The KVar rep said that he did not require a certain number; these would be added to a regular order. We are only going to deal with LH rifles on this thread. George

Price will be available after the SHOT Show later this month. I will inquire about LH barreled actions at that time, but you may be better off with a complete rifle in terms of cost. George

That's pretty much the way it worked out in Oz. To give you an idea, a bare Heavy Magnum action is ~66% of the price of a complete rifle with walnut stock here. You'd be pushing it to fit even an Adams & Bennett barrel and Boyd's stock, for that money. The Zastava stocks we get are a very practical design too, but need a light rub back and a few coats of Tru-Oil. The actions can benefit from a little smoothing work, but that's seen as acceptable in a rifle at the price of these ones. The blokes that have bought them seem very pleased with the accuracy they get, too. Cheers, Doug

Just as a question, I guess. The Zastava Arms web site also lists the following models of LK M70 lefthand as available with 5 plus 1 rounds capacity: 22-250 Rem 6mm Rem 6.5x55 SE 270 Win 30-06 Spring 8x57 JS (In fact, I do not understand why the distinctions in some cases, such as why not .243 or .308, but there you are.) I assume that standard is the fact with these rifles, though not specifically mentioned. Is that correct? Thanks. As a reference point, when the subject came up around January 2, 2011, the response on pricing was around 7x57 and 9.3 x 62: $525 USD 375 H&H and 458 Win Mag: $600 USD. Certainly, we should not expect any solid numbers until we hear something definite [after the SHOT Show?], but that is a rough idea of what I would like to hear.
