Hi,
i want to share some impressions from my hunt in croatia for fallow deer. The hunt took place on a uninhabited island in the adriatic see. It was a beautiful hunt and a nice place to stay.
I took two young stags for herd reduction and a old trophy stag.

medium size trophy stag

I can recommend this place for fallow deer, there are some good stags around. If you need any more infos send me a pm.

Fantastic pictures, looks like a great location! Did you enjoy hunting fallow deer? They are the main species for me here in England and they can be extremely wary. Were they starting to rut at this point?

Yes I enjoyed it very much. The old stags are smart and know how to avoid you.
I did also enjoy to hunt a mediterranean area with juniper and Holm Oak forests.
I heard grunting sometimes but the guide told me it is very unusual and 10-14days to early.

Beautiful pictures. A very nice trophy.
Do you know why they not insist upon shooting females for herd reduction?

Hi,
thank you.
They do hunt females but the season for females will only start next month. I think they will start to hunt females after the rut.

Caracal: How was the food? How about the fishing? Beautiful place, and obviously a very lovely hunt. What caliber did you use?

Hi,
the food was very simple. There is no freezer/fridge because there is no electricity on the island (a small generator for light in the evening). But I enjoyed every (warm) beer in that scenery Big Grin
I think you can fish there, the water was very clean. I never tried to fish, I was to busy chasing deer.

I used my guides Remington ( I think it was a Mod. 770 Sportsman Bolt Action) in caliber 7mm rem. Mag. The rifle isn't bad, very accurate. Shot the one stag at more than 180m.
