And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.

Dear Friends:

Here is today's update on Karin's hospital stay.

Karin had an uneventful day. It started off with the nurses reducing her sedation medication and turning off her vent to see if she could breathe on her own. Her heart rate increased and her oxygen levels dropped to 87.

They expected this, but needed to try this anyway.

Karin's friends Christine, Shana and Meredith visited today.

My friend, Dr. Peter Cho, ("MVR" here on AR) a cardiac surgeon from Baltimore visited with Karin and I. He is a friend whom wanted to visit and joined me at the hospital today. I told him that I am in a mental cloud, and getting small tidbits of information by various doctors at various times of the day. I needed someone to look at everything and give me a no BS assessment of everything going on. Peter did that for me today. He also prayed over Karin, bedside, with me. A true gentleman whom I am honored to call a friend.

This is what we surmised what happened to Karin:

Karin got a lung infection sometime last week, which turned into pneumonia. It wasn't wide spread. Because she was on steroids and has cancer, and since she has not been active, she developed a blood clot(s) that traveled to her "good" lung this past weekend. This caused the rapid deteriation of her breathing.

Right now the doctors are working to cure the pneumonia and disolve the blood clot, which will happen.

They are giving her radiation and chemo to shrink the tumor.

That's where we are now.

Today, my sister watched Ewan. She made a video of Ewan talking to mom.

I returned to the hospital with four pizzas (I bribe the staff for extra special care of my baby) and brough the video camera with me.

I played ewan's video and placed it by Karin's ears. After 30 seconds she opened her eyes, lifted her head, lifted her arms and tried to breathe over her vent!!!!! Her nurse said this was a VERY GOOD sign!!!! Shows she is a fighter and responding to stimulation! If anything gives her the drive to fight, it is our little buddy!!!!!!

Thank you all for your continued support. I feel pretty good right now! I can't wait to get back to her tomorrow!

Dear Friend,
I cannot imagine the pain and sadness you are feeling. As tough as I think I am, I would be a total basket case without my wonderful wife! I will pray for her on a daily basis as all of your friends will do the same. Please look at Canada for an alternative treatment as they are having incredible success with drugs that are not available in the US.

All the best to you and yours,

Dave

I am so sorry for the anguish you are going through. Your positive nature is faith itself. Asking that it is Gods will that she may recover and live a full life. Like Daniel I will pray three times a day for your dear wife and family. Keep strong.

I am at a loss for words, to lose such a friend and soulmate hurts as bad as anything ever will, there or no words that can make that go away. I am truely sorry for your pain and for her passing. Time will help you and your little one heal. Try to be thankfull for, and rejoyce in how special your love is and how good things were. You know that she wants you and your son to go on and live your lives to the fullest and to be happy in life. You doing so will bring her much comfort and joy.

You and your son will be in my prayers again tonight.
