That can't be too pleasant to shoot - even with the break!

Boy, y'all sure have some vivid imagination of what the recoil might be.... hillbilly

Here is a short video clip of me shooting this piece. Notice no dent in forehead, broken bones or small children harmed...lmao... Granted it's only a 300gr bullet. The 500's will run at ~1800 from this barrel and will yield about 4 more inches of muzzle movement...

handgunnr, that didn't look bad at all! Does the brake come off? Not suggesting you should take it off, just curious as to how effective it is. Looks like it tames recoil significantly.

I've got a .50BMG handgun I made from a Maadi-Griffin plan set around here someplace. Recoil is mild because a 16 inch barrel doesn't burn slow powder very well. Nice FIREBALL though! I bring it out to the local range and shoot it home-boy style for the local gangsters. They love it. I could sell a million of them. -Rob

This is for OL BULL, beleive it or not, some of us git a real kick out of big bore hand guns too. They can be a lot of fun, if you know what your doing. Hangunnr, we can add that cannon of yours to my 4 encore handguns in 600 nitro, 460 weatherby, 50-140 sharps, and weatherby 30-378. They all pack a pretty fair punch!

I'd say the brake works very well. Recoil is really a non issue from a field position. It isn't for everyone off the bench though... Wink

I tried to remove the brake but it's not budging. I wasn't willing to chance damaging it just to satiate my curiosity.

big dog,

I've got plans for a 470 Capstick Encore tube. Hopefully I'll get there before the end of the year...

Boomie, sounds like a plan, just watch those pressure limits. The Encore won't hold up real well to really high pressures, likke the older 460 Weatherby load of 500 grain solids at 2700 ft/sec. I know that load is to hot from expierience and a doctor bill!!

Can I join too?

Right now I have (among other, lesser calibers) a .416 Weatherby Mag and a couple of S&W X-frame 500s (2 3/4 "and 8 3/8" barrels) but am waiting for Ed and Wayne of AHR fame to finish my Granite Mountain action 600 OverKill.

Do I qualify for this most exclusive of clubs?
