Senior Status: 500 NE 3" and up

Those of you who shot my 550 please log in. I do not remember who all took me up on my offer to test fire it.

I shot it,and liked it. I will say it again " your 550 was less punishing than my 470 merkel", the way the merkel came from the factory. Your stock did a great job of recoil control! I shot it bear shoulder and had no pain, no slap on the face. You knew you touched something off but it did not hurt. I am thinking of having one built. At .550 dia will you be able to export it to Africa and get it back. I think I read a post were someone had a problem with a .50 dia rifle. My brno 602 has a 458 bolt face is there enough to work with that bolt.

I smacked an old tin coffee cup with the .500Jeff. we had it set up on an old earthen dam. I center punched it and got about 10 seconds of airtime. That was kind of cool! Cool

Guess I'm in for the three shot run of 550 GIBBS SUPER MAGNUM I had at the Bubba Shoot. Thats a cool round you've put together Rich and I'm really considering this one for my Montana "PH". Does this mean I'll get a patch for membership?--- Just kidding, had alot of fun at the shoot! Thanks Rich, Rodney out.

I still ain't putting one in the safe, yet!
I didn't run until I could crawl and walk first.
This is like looking at the guy who has it all.
You see him now, not realizing all his sacrifices and beginnings.
A 378 Improved to a 550 or 577 is a groin ripping leap!
I'll start off small with a 416 Rigby and work up.
Afterwards I'm thinking 460 Webbie or so.
Then a 500 A-Square.
Baby steps.
My pain threshold will grow nicely I figure.

I didn't shoot Rich's 550 Gibbs this time around but I will in June. I have my 11 lb 550 Magnum (700 gr @ 2350 fps) which beats me up quite well, thank you.

Others 458 or bigger I own and shoot:

450 Ackley
458 AR
505 Gibbs

Boomy, I'll get the video of you shooting the 577 NE to Jeffe this weekend so we can get it posted!

I don't own a 577 T-rex, I said "Uncle" at that point. I worked my way up from a 460Wby Mk V, then a 460Wby BBK-02, always striving for 1/2 MOA or better for 3 shots at 100 yards.

If you don't stop doing it at some point you are going to go blind!
