I have a call into the product manager, to discuss this. Even if he tells me "no" it's a firm interest.

Now, if they DO entertain this thought, There will be a firm delivery date.

the "rumor" is that only demos have been made, and there's not a ship full of them (that's full of SHIP ya'll)

I'm also interested. But I've been waiting for several years now... I figure it's about like waiting for My hair to grow back, it ain't gonna happen. Eeker

As for price, don't have a real place to start... reckon a dealer will need to put us together a package deal... the PM said he would be talking to some of his favorite dealers to work with us... he took this seriously..

So, here's what *I* think.. these will be available within a couple months... in very limited quantity.. and a group buy will be about the only way "normal guys" get them.

I'll be buying 2 for me... one to play with, one to keep stock

Remington is going to have to get a live example to Bi-Mart, Wally-World or Sportsman's Warehouse before I'll even think of buying one.

Sometimes the fit and finish of a commie gun is good, sometimes it is not. I wouldn't commit to buying one of these sight unseen.

If it is a decent gun, I'll be one of the first to get the 45/70 version. But I have to actually get one in my hands first.

This is my opinion. Your opinion may vary.

Oh come on be a sport! Cool Really though what is this thing going to cost? $500-$700? I spent more on my wife trying to make up for forgeting our anniversary last year.

I am being a sport. This is Remington we're talking about here. The creator of such groundbreaking revolutionary firearms advancements as, Etronix, The J-Lock, and the highly regarded M710 rifle and emergency boat oar.

I really like the idea. I'll believe it when I can see Baikal's clunky action in my hot hands and can put one on layaway.

I wonder if the 30-06 version can be rebored to 9.3x62?

How expensive is 450 to reload for compared to 45-70? I'm sure teh major difference is in brass.

Didn't Cabelas import an Italian made 45-70 a few years back? H

I'd like one too but I seriously doubt that any would be imported into Oz. And I would need to convince one of my American friends to hold it for me until I can get over, with all the necessary paperwork to import it back into Oz, and pick it up.

I am looking at a bear hunt in 2006 which would be a great time to pick it up - any idea when the Spartans might be available? (From what I've read, I guess that there is no real answer to this last question!!!!)

If I can solve these couple of 'little' problems, then count me in.

Jeff i got held up becouse i didnt have any jackets ..and still dont ..what i have is a draw
die set for .660 jacket down to .550 jacket
That means i have some... .660 jackets that need to be drawn down to .550 diameter before i can use them ..

Once there drawn down i need to be able to ..clip them off at the right length ..
for what every bullet weight i am going to make from them .
the fuzzy picture of the one in my figers is a 619 Grain .. it was just one that the jacket was test cut to trying to get to the bullet weight of 700 grains ..
Nice bullet .. Big Grin did alaska bullet work start selling them yet .. I hate to start selling them before thay do ..It is there bullet design

I just twisted Richard arm harder Big Grin

I gotta give them a little running head start
My designs wont be done for sometime.

Hey Hog Killer, you don't need to have seperate DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTER'S SOCIETY, just a 45-70 double rifle division! This could make for a real fun shoot in the spring when the weather is cool. By that time everyone will have them dialed in, and we could have a chargeing Black bear for the 45-70 chargeing target, along with the chargeing Cape Buffalo for the larger rifles! Then go on to a hog hunt on one of the hog ranches, and make it a two, or three day get together! FUN! Don't you think?

I think you both mean rebored and rechambered to 9.3x74R. Low pressure rimmed rounds and doubles -- just that much better. Cool

I think ..If you look at the barrels on the double ....Well thay look kinda thin...i dont know if a person could .. safely rechamber
to a much longer case length.
But i think you might be right 9.3x74R

Here's the "game"
- don't mean to sound gruff, just laying down facts.

1: 45/70 only - no point in one offs to muddy the deal

2: a single dealer will order from a distributor

3: distributor (and dealer) will keep the order intact as a special order, and not allow for dilution of the order

4: cost is a TBD - myself, well, as long as it aint over list, i don't care

5: No money will be taken until we have firm dates. No need to send me anything on this at this time

6: All firearms rules apply

7: the dealer will want a reasonable distribution time... less than 2 weeks is probably fine

8: getting your gun to you is between you and the dealer..

9: when the time comes, we will send funds to the dealer (we'll address payment to the dealer) for the group buy. I am not handling the money

10: nothing will be done unless I am certain remington will come through

Mac,

Sounds great to me, my AR shirts are going to look like a NASCAR racer with, "WE BAND OF BUBBAS", "STC HUNTING CLUB", and "DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY". clap

I did get to shoot robgunbuilder's CZ O/U 458 Lott, even though the barrels are laid out wrong(O/U), it was fun to get two aimed shoots off that fast.

Jeffeosso,

Thnks for your efforts. Nothing could be more fair than what you have suggested.

Zeke,

I was at the Rockford gun show on Sunday and got to see some Spartan labelled SxS 12 shotguns with outside hammers as well as hammerless ones. They were very well put together for their $ 485 price though the very short 20" barrels kept me from buying them. Some weeks ago on a trip to Kenosha I saw a slightly different design of shotgun at Gander Mountain and that, too was very nice for the price. I am sure that you would like to buy one after you see an example bought by one of your friends. Cheers, everyone! beer

Without a better idea of the strength of the action and the thickness of the barrels in the area to be affected by the rechambering, you just might give a whole new meaning to "Boom Stick." eek2
