I would hunt anywhere, myself. But you may have another opinion. I have tried to cover all bases. So tell it to the world. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

You missed an option....Yes, but only if I can use a 50 caliber Barrett semi and can hunt in the areas where there are lots and lots of Taliban and other american hating bad people. Maybe, just maybe I will have enough ammo and time to take an actual game animal. Of course you would hunt anywhere yourself.....you don't know anyone who is serving the armed forces in that region or has been killed/maimed there by these bastards. Oh yea, thats it....your from the liberal Mass. and think these bad people are our friends.

I had a Persian friend from Canada in school that claimed Iran was a friendly and safe place for North Americans to visit. I expressed my concern about the isane president they have and she quite agreed with me and said his thoughts, actions, and words are not shared by the average Persian. Her take was that he is viewed as somewhat of a wacko by most Persians. It's not on the top of my list of places to visit, but I'm sure there is some truth to her words. If that was the case, how does this idiot stay in power? Why don't this population of persians throw out the taliban and others doing harm not only to americans but to persians as well? The truth is the muslim religion is not as peaceful as you think and the average persian, being muslim does not think there is anything wrong with what the taliban and others are doing. Show me a muslim, anywhere, who is willing to PUBLICALLY denounce what these murderous people are doing. Well, it ain't gonna happen. We are the "infidels" to the muslims and we are to be murdered. Thats as simple as I can put it.

You bet I would! They have some of the most exotic animals any mountain hunter would want. If Muslims worry you, then go hunt Mexico...

Iran....Lets see - 7 different types of wild sheep - 2 types of Ibex - Maral Stag (Red Stag) - Couple of Gazelle species Should be a lot of fun if one is willing to do deal with mountains. Bob Kern of the Hunting Consortium http://www.huntingconsortium.com/ just recently came back from an awesome hunt in Iran. Please feel free to get in touch with him if you have any questions. Or stop by their booth at Dallas Safari Club (1100 section).

Yep, an 10's of thousands of people there conspiring to kill our GI's serving in that region solely to keep these bad individuals on the run. Yea, to some the hunting opportunity must be worth it to finance these people so they can purchase more WMD to kill our brave GI's with. Think about that next time you see a GI at the airport. Better yet, ask one of them what they think of your financing this murderous government. I dare ya!

Oh, and forget to ask you, smarterthenus, - are you unable to offer a decent hunt in Iran? That makes you jealous? Com'on, boy, that's fair - the crisis restricted number of clients and they want the best autfitters...you and your Canadian colleague are missining in the list...

Well, for all of you cold heartless treacherous AMERICAN/ALLY hunters, let's start in the beginning. December of 2006 was when our forces first began encountering EFP's (explosively formed projectiles), they were IED's developed and supplied by the Iranian military to the Iraqi insurgents to counteract our armored vehicles. They worked, they sliced through our armor like a hot knife through butter, violently ending the lives of our soldiers and making orphans, widows and childless parents of Americans across this country. You can google most of these names and get contact info, why don't you heartless p.o.s. contact their families and ask them if they "Would hunt in Iran"? So let's start with just the Soldiers that were killed the first month Iran began providing our enemies with these devices. Sgt. Jay Gauthreaux killed 12/4/06 Sgt. John Bubeck killed 12/26/06 Here is John's mother, broken at his funeral, anyone want to ask her about hunting in Iran? SPC Aaron Preston killed 12/26/06 PFC Andrew Nelson killed 12/26/06 Here is Andrew's beautiful HS sweetheart and wife, just before he was deployed Here is Andrews dad, Al Nelson, so proud of his son. And his mom Tami with her baby boy. If you all would like, I can work on posting pics of the Americans killed by Iran in January 07 tomorrow.

American soldiers with a FEW allies....doing battle with BAD people so most of the world can sleep well at night. Iran's leaders and their support for WORLD terrorism is the worst of it's kind...and we have supposedly smart people that think otherwise. Sad, very sad. Listen, I have no issue with the peaceful muslims, much like the ones in India and many other places....but the ones in the Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan areas are far from the peaceful type. Hey, maybe the first AR member hunting there will show us how nice they are when we see him on network news, hanging from a bridge(if he still has his head).

easyman....just a single word for Russia.....WEAKLING. Afghanistan, a country 1/50 the size kicked your asses for 10 years and killed millions and you quietly went home...and that was when Russia HAD some power. No wonder they keep quiet now.

I feel sorry for the gone men and women in uniform though that is the risk of their job. But was the real beginning in 2006? Or was it earlier, when your smart boys "found" weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? or even earlier, when your other smart boys decided they were unable to survive without Iraqi oil?

Sign me up. I would hunt Turkey in spite of the Ottoman occupation of Constantinople, I would hunt England in spite of the Red Coats, I would hunt an Indian Reservation in spite of what they did to Custer, I would hunt Germany in spite of WWI, I would hunt Japan in spite of Pearl Harbor, I would hunt North Korea in spite of the division with the south, I would happily hunt Vietnam for Mouse Deer, and I would absolutely hunt Iran and Pakistan for their sheep and ibex species!

no, that's not silly - that's propaganda... or, maybe he is trolling...otherwise he should know the history of their supplies to Afgan rebels(most of them are Taliban now) and know the present situation of NATO troops guarding their own bases there and the fact that drugs production in Afganistan had trippled since the American invasion ....I believe not only the Germans want to get out of there as soon as possible....

Tendrams, I think you miss the point, it would be hard to find a country or entity to do business with that hasn't at sometime done something brutal or unethical. But to voluntarily give money to a government that is CURRENTLY using their resources to kill your soldiers that are fighting for YOUR way of life is suicide by proxy and puts the blood of those fine men and women on your hands. What would you do if the Taliban or Al Quaeda offered Markhor hunts in the mts. of Pakistan?
|
One of Us |
Exactly, and I completely agree. As to the oil situation, we Canadians have HUGE reserves and the USA will not "run dry" if the Middle East oil suddenly became unavailable to them. As far as NATO and US behaviour in Afganistan, etc.; I have not heard of them spreading little plastic children's toys around populated areas for kiddies to pick up.....oh, sorry, these were actually land mines made in, guess where, commie Russia and distributed by their "heroic" soldiers....... About says it all, IMO.

Yes, If I could. The idea that Ali the sheep guide in Baluchestan absolutely moonlights as a IED maker is plainly laughable. I would have thought that holding a view one way or another would not be cause for WW3, but then we do have special characters abord this forum.

The full phrase is "window licking mentalist", a British expression for the rabid, in-your-face type of mentalist who won't leave others in peace. http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Mentalist HTH, GH

Well, that's not what it means here. Try the Urban Dictionary.

http://www.urbandictionary.com...e.php?term=mentalist Mentalist, it's a phrase that's UK based in origin in this usage. You probably heard me use it a few times in the PF. You guys have a TV show called "The Mentalist" which seems to infer that it has quite a different meaning. As in: But we stray far from the intention of the OP I fear.....

Window lickers are something totally different here and that is the full phrase. Here there is no "mentalist" added on. Kind of like "fags" both here and in the UK.

i did hunt iran in the mid 70's before they kicked out the shah. our group didn't get any sheep or ibex though...just hogs, some foxes, one jackal and a wolf. and doves and ducks) too bad about the whole political situation...it sucks. i would love to go back again. most of the people are pretty decent. blaming guns for crime is like blaming silverware for rosie o'donnell being fat

Ghubert, maybe he's sore about Iran supplying some of the weapons used to kill US Soldiers...Y'think? He and I do not exchange Christmas Cards, but I am 100% behind him on this one. Even marching side by side. I'd hunt Iran, but I'd want to use a Comanche and have the fire controls under my control. Nuclear warheads if available. Rich US Soldier once...

I understand that he's not in favour of Americans hunting there Rich, I wondered if he was sore about something because of the entirely ad hominem nature of his last post. I'm not sure sheep hunting is one of the primary revenue streams of the Iranian government you see, I think it's something else but it esscapes my mind just at the moment. With that admittedly hazy understanding of the funding situation I hesitate to condemn sheep hunting there. Erm, that's it I think. GH

just for my better understanding of your approach: most casualties our troops had in Afganistan in 1984 - 85 that year the USA started to supply Stingers to the that-time taliban....do you believe that I must hate you because of the fact? or - do you hate me because of our military supplies to Vietnam?

Not to get itno a pissing match, but..... I seem to remember your country irrespectively straifing Afghan men, women, and CHILDREN and even targeting children with toy bombs........ Vietnam you guys facilitated the hostile invasion of a peaceful country.............. Today Russia and China too just make it imposible for the rest of the world to deal with crazy countries like North Korea and Iran by breaking international agreements for their own profit...........
