As many here in the African Hunting Forum are aware I have gotten my self crossways with one of the resident booking agents here on AR as a result of my bird-dogging him over a hunt that he had advertised in the Discounted Hunts Forum. The same hunt was offered for sale to me, and other forum members, by two other well known agents for $6,000 less than the price at which it was advertised here, I questioned this and asked for a straight answer.

I am, in reality, a rather infamous former member named Chipolopolo. Saeed agreed to my coming back to the forums and participating, albeit under another handle because of my former notoriety, provided I behaved myself and contributed to the forums, which, on both counts, I believe I have done.

I am outing myself as the former Chipolopolo because the booking agent in question has figured out my true identity and in a PM to me has made a veiled threat to out me to the forum in retaliation to my questioning the hunt that he advertised. This is not something that I want to do as Saeed was adamant that I NOT come back as Chipolopolo, and I have tried to abide by his wishes, but I now see it as my having little choice but to fess up as to my real identity. Saeed has stated here many times that private messages are to remain just that, private, so I will not post the contents of Greg's PM to me but it is there for Saeed or the Moderators to read if they wish.

Welcome back. Let's see, buddies with Garby, a love of Zambia, it's PHs, and Mark Sullivan. The only thing missing was a PHC thread. I PMd a long time member a couple of days ago and asked him if he thought it was you.

Now is Cane Rat really Andy?

What does your former handle mean?

And yes I do spend too much time on here.

Mike Thanks,
Chipolopolo is a song sung by the "guys" in most sub-saharan African countries after a successful hunt for sitatunga, lion and leopard. Its rough translation is "The Bullet Has Won the Day"

And nice deductive reasoning tu2

And Thanks, Cane Rat? I couldn't say if its Drook. (just don't know)

Steve,

You hit the ground running, no doubt about that. Can't seem to remember the ban, but only that you usually took a contrarian view well articulated.

Welcome back.

What is the raason for any member to hide or not want fellow guests to know whom he or she really is in a public forum?

Peter,

I think he is saying that he was banned previously as Chipolopolo and was let back on under a new a new name. In my opinion he is being quite honest and up front and should be received back as a welcomed member.

Don't take offense please but who realy is Balla Balla? Do you disagree?

Peter,

Sadly, some people still believe in anonymity on the Internet.

The reality, though, far from that.

Anytime, anyone, uses a computer to access the Internet, he leaves footprints, which lead straight back to them.

Sometimes it takes no more than a few minutes to track a poster. Others might take a day or two.

But, no one can actually hide on the Internet.

Peter,
As Dark Continent stated, my behavior was.......well, less than gentlemanly, too much profanity, picking on easy targets, and I desevredly got the chop. Saeed allowed me back but not as the same screen name. So there was no intended avoidance of the truth. Just staying away from that name.

Well, I'll be damned. Just goes to show you that when someone sincerely changes and behaves, and you don't know who they are, that you seem to lose all of the prior ill will and prejudices that you had. Big Grin Does this mean that 500 grains, if he repents, will be resurrected on AR too? wave

Apologies in advance, but what prompted the change in behavior? Why the churlish attitude during your first go-around?

Not trying to psycho-analyze or be invasive, (I'll never argue over the ability of someone to change their ways) but just interested as to why you've decided to return and with a different outlook.

I'll tell you exactly why. I have a fair amount of African and North American experience. I met Garby over in Zambia in 2008 in Johnny duPlooy's camp. Gary told me about this forum. I guess I expected to be accepted immediately, didn't need to get to know my way around and allow others to get to know me.

I assumed I would be looked up to? I saw that I have no more experience than many many other posters here. I guess I just needed to mature a bit?

That being said, I do in fact have an odd sense of humour and really never meant any of that stuff. Like the Capstick Stuff, in reality I really really like PHC and he got me there as well, it was just to damn tempting sometimes to just "push buttons".

But when I got banned I really sort of missed the interaction and conversing with many of you about the true passion of my life.

Does that make sense?

Nganga: You don't know me from Adam, but I do remember your previous postings, and would still like to welcome you back to the forum also. I have been a reader on here for quite a while, a poster for a much shorter one, and always believed if I didn't have something constructive to offer, I would stay silent. "Pushing someone's button" as you called it has never been my style, but may tickle others fancies.

Love to continue to hear of your experiences, and also appreciate the passion you have put into the sport, as evidenced by your trophy room pics. You look to have a lot to offer.

Welcome back.

The "Old Chip" never offended me in any way shape or form. In fact I found him highly entertaining and informative. Some guys on this forum just need to toughen up.

The new fellow isn't doing a bad job either. tu2

Let's have a double resurrection and bring back another good guy, the inimitable, hugely knowledgeable and all round great guy "500 grains".

Things have not been the same since he departed our screens, we are indeed all the poorer as a result of his enforced exile.

I look forward to his "second coming", how ever messy it may be. dancing

Wow, didn't know you could be banned...

I've never had a problem with you mr. Nganga...there's should be a soap opera considering the drama thats on this forum. Seriously! "I was threatened with being outed!" How funny, Nganga, I think you were totally within your right to question that Mnt Nyala hunt...things were a little fishy.

Now, that being said, I think a guy can post a hunt for whatever he wants, if he wants a 100k for an impala, so be it...you or I don't have to hunt with him. But that's the free market, if someone wants to, that's their business.

Everyone's got to get paid!

Maybe I just have too good a memory,, or maybe you just struck too many nerves in my spine to forget but I do remember your posts on Peter Capstick,, Craig Boddington,, and your alliance with adrook etc. It is not my concern whether Saeed allows you back on this forum,,It is his decision and his alone to make that judgement. I respect Saeed's decision. I hope you stay true to your promise to Saeed and keep your comments on the level they have remained since you returned. I can learn a great deal from your experiences,, and you too can benefit from those on here as well. It is real easy to take shots at easy targets on an internet forum,, much easier than in person,,, when that post button is pushed,,,it is hard to un post unkind comments. You get the benefit of Saeed giving you a second chance so not that you should care but you get the same second chance with me.

Welcome back
