Has anyone ever seen a camel mount in a trophy room? Matt Graham's post regarding the camel cull hunt (sounds like a lot of fun, btw) got me wondering if anyone has one hanging up in their trophy room.

On a similar note, what about a feral horse or donkey shoulder mount?

I'd be curious to see if anyone has pictures. Google yielded me nothing.

Thanks in advance!

I was pricing these hunts a year or so back and I was talking with this guy.. He's out of Adelaide.. Seemed like an alright guy. I believe he owns a taxi shop as well and has a few pics of mounted camels on his site in addition to the numerous hunting pics.

Woodsie, aren't those books the greatest?! I got volume 5 a few weeks back for my birthday and just ordered another one a few days ago.

I have never seen a camel, feral horse or donkey shoulder mount in a trophy room in the US. Taxidermists in Australia do camel shoulder mounts. I hunted with Magnum Hunts in Adelaide once and saw the camel shoulder mounts they have in their shop; there is no commercial form available in the US as far as I know, so you get it mounted by an Australian taxidermist or have a custom form made here.

There is a camel form available in the US now, through Knight's Taxidermy in Anchorage, AK
I'll dig up some pics of a recent mount.

I saw a camel shoulder mount in a lodge in RSA some years back. Camels make wild boars look pretty.

With some work, a camel mounted in the kneeling position could be turned into a sofa or love-seat. The head could be turned back toward the seats, mouth open, ash tray held therein, maybe some small spotlights within glass-eyes for reading. There aren't any wild Bactrians, are there?

That thing is just so ugly it's awesome.. I'd hang it in the room (just not a ped mount!)..

I was planning on caping the bull out that I was going to take as well (hunt changed to another Africa hunt though).. One of these days. At least I know know that there is a form out there here in the US.

Thanks for posting the pics.

^ I was waiting to hear that. That camel in texas is pure ugly. Is it diseased?

A camel is a unique hunt and would be a unique mount. I would want the humps mounted and make the toes into ashtrays.

You're welcome. Years ago Jonas was the only supplier that carried a wall mount Camel headform. When they went to foam forms a great deal of what they sold back in the day was no longer available. Shame! Russell saw a need and filled the niche'. And like you said, now we have one.

Dan, can you please post up photos when you get the mount completed. Is it going to be a shoulder mount?
