Okay, off the top of my head the 7.62x39 out of the 20 inch AR15 barrel was over 2000 fps. To answer your question about your 1875 fps load it's in "your" rpm threshold. Say if mine was 2100 fps that would still be in too. I don't have a lube problem with the 312-155 in my Yugo SKS and actually really don't in the AR15. Again off the top of my head the 6.5 velocity is somewhere around 2100 to 2400 fps out a 20 inch barrel and that has a 1 in 8 twist, so you can figure the R's for it.

Starmetal

Me, put a curse on you? Come on, it's you guys that believe in witchcraft. I'm the guy the quote scientific facts beer Sounds like you been having fun around the old homestead though!

I know my loads in the 9.5" twist of the Russian SKS and the Mini MkX are right where they should be for best accuracy (in the RPM threshold, where else wave). When you get to your records let us know the actual velocity of both your loads for the AR and the twist of the 7.62 AR. Then we can discuss the facts of the matter.

Well I know the twist of both, like I said the 6.5 is 1 in 8 and the 7.62 barrel being American made is 1 in 10. The Yugo SKS is a faster twist.

I don't need to have this much fun around the house at this age. When young in a sadistic kind of way I'd love it because it would give me something to do..something challenging, especially if I haven't done that particular repair before.

The Yougo should be the standard 9.5" twist. At least the 3 or 4 that I've measured are. Have to see what the velocities of your loads are.

Don't hurt yourself around the house. Who else would I argue like this with (the others take things way too seriously) coffee

Well I have my friend, that's what helped my 6.5 Grendel and 7.62x39 AR get good groups.

How's it feel to have egg on your face? Read it and weep, you said it...no advantage, you tested it, gets dirt on it.

Starmetal,
Are your conclusions based on statistically valid sample sizes?

Yes,why yes they are. In fact the DuPont ballistics lab in Richmond, Va ran them.

They group tested 30 groups in 30 rifles of each caliber?

Awesome? Why the hell would anyone want to waste anything "awesome" in response to your garbage. Once again you add absolutely nothing to a discussion, you can't come up with anything you've actually done your self and all you do is bitch about others. You are sad, some would think of you as an "oxygen thief" dancing

Please provide something you've done germane to the subject here. Awesome....wasted on you.....you've got to be shitting us.......

I plum forgot about that "entertaining thread" clap

So 45 2.1 has "all the dirt" on everyone over at Cast Boolits eh? Gee, I wonder what "dirt" he's got on me? Could it be that I'm a proponant of the RPM threshold? OOOoooohhhh, I'm scared now....think he'll tell anyone? Might ruin my reputation rotflmo

Well since the first stone was cast......

Thanks for calling me Larry's twin. If you've have ever seen him in person he's a combination of Clark Gable and Paul Newman with the manliness of John Wayne, quite the looker and a real he man's man.

What's wrong sweetheart don't like it when you get what you've been dishing out for years?? Not quite used to people not backing down from your BOLD font?? Well guess what, as you would and have said on numerous occasions...too bad. Another thing, why don't you use your real name on the forums when you're so quick to be a wise guy. I saw a post by Kenny Wasserburger asking you the same thing and you clammed up tighter than a nuns legs at a sailor's convention. Also noticed your not able to rally the troops to dig you out of holes you dig yourself like you once did, HMMMMM wonder why.

So here's the bottom line pal. You want to knock off the bullshit and start treating me like you expect to be treated we'll get along fine. You want to keep the shit up with the wise cracks and smart ass replies to everthing I say that's fine too, your choice.

Larry, get away from that catfight and get back to the good stuff. Okay the velocity for the 7.62x39 out of my AR15 20 inch barrel (which by the has a .3095 groove with a 10 twist) is 2195 fps. The 6.5 Grendel out of 20 inch barrel with .2639 groove with an 8 twist is 2347 fps. Now the 6.5 is out of your ballpark, I don't think the 7.62 is, can't remember your upper limit. The 7.62 doesn't have enough boiler room, but velocity wise 2195 fps isn't such a wimpy load for a 155 gr bullet. The 7mm-08 with a 135 gr Lee out of an 18.5 inch barrel with .284 groove and a 9.5 twist was 2647 fps, but originally was 2710 fps with the same accuracy. I wanted to have as close as possible to 200,000 rpm. As you can calculate that is around 200084 rpm. AT the 2710 fps it's 205389 fps.

Ya know I find only one use for cats and to associate 45 2.1 with cats is a real insult to the cats. However, I will gladly get back to our discussion.

Your 7.62 load is pushing 157,000 RPM and the 6.5 is 213,000 RPM. The 7.62 is not "out of my ballpark" as I pushed the "ill fitting" 311291 to a higher velocity/RPM with good accuracy. As I have repeaidly said; "the RPM threshold is not a limit". Thus it can be pushed, you just have to know how to do it and be will ing to take the steps is all. As to the really fantastic group shot with the 6.5; can you do that all the time? I've shot some pretty good groups that were anomolies as has everyone else. Can you shoot 5 consecutive 5 shot groups for us at 100 yards? Or how about 2 consecutive 10 shot groups? You know the subject of consistent accuracy has always been one of the requirements not just one good group. That was why Dan made his contest to be 5 consective 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Dan knew that many shoot a "lucky" group now and then. No one collected one of his moulds.

You may have something there so complete an objective accuracy test for us and then we can discuss it. One other question; Is that your "best accuracy" with that rifle or does the "best accuracy" still come at a lower velocity/RPM?

Now, that is not "spin" or anything else. I am simply asking questions. I will not make any observation based on one group on this thread the same as I've not done on any thread. Show us consistant best accuracy that is repeatable then we shall discuss whether or not it is "out of my ball park". If you could provide us with the correct definition of the RPM threshold you would understand that.

I shoot both the 7.62 and 6.5 groups all the time, except the 6.5 is limited to how many round because of bore fouling on the account of the Saeco's single lube groove not carrying enough lube, which I increase the fouling time by lubing the noses. I have just completed a new lube and only test fired it today. Accuracy was still good, but now I have a lube star at the muzzle. We'll see what this does in a longer run. No Larry, it's a secret still....on lube. Can say this, it's simpler then poop to make and only has two ingredients.

Wrong again.....what's that name again? Tonite you're Binky. Wrong again Binky. You (We or Others depending where you stand in a conversation and how many other people you've managed to drag into it) started well before that. I guess you don't remember all the times you started about me being a member of the CBA, or how I should get out and do it, or my very favorite of all how my METHODOLOGY wasn't up to it. Must have gotten a dictionary for Christmas that year.

Like I said last time, knock off the smart ass know it all bullshit with me and we'll get along fine. You'd think that by now a guy that's been slammed as many times as you have on that forum would learn to think a little bit before he started typing

If the best you can come up with is that "most everyone" again then it's time to just ignore you. Perhaps, as Pat I states, we would think you could learn, obviously not though.

Yes it is, especially when he used the same words in earlier posts in this very thread. I'm not looking for respect from anyone, especially someone without the stones to use their real name. I just want to be able to post something here or anywhere else without some know it all breaking an ankle to infuse some nonsensical horse shit without even taking the time to read what I wrote.

Hey, I read what you said about Larry and you haven't commented on it yet (though others have had a lot of PMs going back and forth about it). Ask your buddy idabull to post his name (and see where you get with that).

Well if a lot of (others again) PMs are going back and forth about what I wrote about Larry there's probably 100 people who's ears aren't ringing right now so that's a plus and I've provided a public service. Being able to recognize sarcasm is an art form reserved for the more intelligent segment of the population, did you (and others) recognize it or not?

idabull has nothing to do with our little problem so why bring him up?

45 2.1: Hard to believe that anyone who is familiar with your "career "would waste their time looking for any record of your appearance in a registered match in any discipline..because there is always the wind to blame..and it is for certain not intended as sarcasm.. CRYBABY Onceabull

45 2.1

Why thank you, that's the nicests thing you've ever said about me clap

Nice to know you think Pat's description of me ("he's a combination of Clark Gable and Paul Newman with the manliness of John Wayne, quite the looker and a real he man's man") is not sarcasm. You must agree I do cut a fine figure of a man salute

But we all know you'll see where you've stuck your foot in your mouth and comback with something derogatory. To late dude, the secrets out; you really like me but your envy gets in your way. To paraphrase you, some of us do and some of us only want to. You have a nice evening lol

"Sarcasm it wasn't"

I guess that says it all.

I guess this could go on forever and since I don't think it's fair to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man let's just ignore each other from now on. You can go on being the expert and I'll go on being non-methodical. And to be truthful I don't really care what your name is since I'm not going to find it anywhere anyway.

You delude yourself, again. You must agree I do cut a fine figure of a man. A nacissistitic statement if i've ever heard one. You've provided a good laugh for us all and shown your true colors. You and Pat have a good time together on your getaways. Big Grin

Lots of Wind from the NorthWest, being from there you should know all about it. Signing one name and posting with another. Seems you have a split personality there, whatever your name is at the time. Get back on your meds lest you have another breakdown.

I was hoping we could get back to a disussion of the RPM threshold. Starmetal, 45 2.1 and swheeler have failed to provide the correct definition of it so far. Perhaps they would like to add the correct definition(?) and we can proceed. Swheeler did provide his own limited idea of what it was but I think they need to post the correct definition so we all then know what it is we are really discussing.

swheeler: Ohhhh, we are supposed to be "contributors" now..I give at church..Contributors like yourself would do a great service to those reading your pearls of wisdom if there was a means of identifying those that might be true, and the stone lies..Knowing your concern about lies, perhaps you can craft up something--how about the mark of the beast ?? knife Idabull

The correct definition of it is that it's a fictional myth, thus nothing to talk about. I see since I provided the information you wanted on my 6.5 Grendel you have nothing further to say then it was good shooting. How about "Dang, it beat my fictional threshold" or something to that effect. How do you explain it besides my rifle is a fluke...how about the 7mm-08, it that a fluke rifle too.

Go back to Castboolits Larry and open up another rpm thread since Al and Bret won't lock it out anymore now that they aren't moderators.

To say the least, I'm confused. Thought I might be entertained a little, in combination on what is going on the other board. Here is hoping I am not the threaded cat of choice! Where's Jump? ... felix
