I will only use the first of Mark's ten films. I will not use the "best of" films. Only individual hunts and no repeats will be tabulated.
Saeed:
The work is done. Give me a few days to tabulate and chart the results. You will be surprised on the charges information as to enticed or not. Now I fully understand that Mark's detractors will not change their mind with what publish here but at least the numbers will be known.

Anyway, gents, give me a few days to continue healing up as any tasks I undertake are a bit slow and I'm home now and on my own so it's a bit slower that it would be if I had someone here.
Cheers,
Cal

I would imagine from you gents who are so anti Mark that you are questioning if I can "tell" if a charge is enticed or not. What I will do is list each charge, note if the animal was wounded or not, note if there was a wait to see what if the animal would do, note if the animal charge instantly without waiting, charged unwounded, and who and how many shots were fired. I will also note where the client shot and missed, when the client went to a wounded animal with an empty chamber, when a client kept pulling the front trigger of a double and could get off the second shot. I would hope you would be as factual as I plan to be, but I don't expect to change any opinions of Mark. Meaning Mac's comments on Mark's "stupid habit" of kicking dirt at a hippo to entice a charge. I won't debate the use of the word "stupid" as that is an opinion. I will take issue with the word "habit" as it only happened one time. Using words such as this illustrate the emotion generated is not keeping with facts. One instance, even while disagreed with, is not a habit by any stretch of the imagination. And, in keeping with facts as presented on the films I can't and won't speculate what happens off camera.
As mentioned, give me a few days to tabulate and I will present either here or on a new thread.
Cheers gents,
Cal

Cal,

I am not questioning what you are going to do.

My question is how can ANYONE tell from watching a movie, which has been edited to convey a certain event in the way the editor wanted to appear.

The only way it could be done is if that person was actually present on what had happened.

And you are of course right. You are not going to change my mind that as far as I am concerned, Mark Sullivan gets those charges because he does not just entice these charges, but PLANS them in advance to occurr.

What he actually does to get them to happen is the mystery we would all like to know.

And frankly the only person who can tell us that is someone who was present.

I reread your long post and my compliments on how well it was written. The fact you had no detractors shows it is beyond reproach.

I have finished my watching the first ten of Mark's films. I drive home tomorrow with the new knee and soon after I settle in I will tabulate the results and post them in a new thread. I have every shot, who shot first, who killed the animal, every charge and if the charge was wounded, not wounded and enticed or not. I will list the number of shots by clients and by Mark and I even have the order of shots and by whom. The final results won't surprise you but it will many and many will know of their errors in what they have stated in the past. The only thing I ponder is if I should quote the detractors when I present the fact(s). One side of me says I should not point fingers and the other side says there has been so much untruthful finger pointing at Mark that I should. I will think on this over the next few days. Expect my post by early next week. I have my commentary written now and I just need to edit it and polish it a bit so I sound somewhat educated and then tabulate the data. I will divide the videos into three categories: the first three (1990-92), the mid years (1995-2000) and the last two (2005-06). Each of these three categories show changes in firearms, philosophy, clients, hunting style, methods, etc. In closing, I would like to meet you someday. You seem like a skookum gent (Alaska slang).
Cheers,
Cal
PS. I will stay out of the Heinz-Baskin Robins debate, however.

Cal,

I would like to meet you personally one day as well. Perhaps I can give you a shout the next time I am flying into Alaska. I did draw a spring hunt on POW but I was hoping for a fall hunt so I doubt that I will make it up in 2014.

Thank you Cal for your kind words, I am familiar with the phrase skookum gent. It is a very special compliment but I truly do not deserve such a wonderful accolade. It is very humbling to receive such a fine compliment from you.

Regarding the information you have compiled to share with AR, I wish you the best with your presentation. I predict that regardless of what the information you compile reveals; it will be ineffective in changing the mantra of those who wish to manufacture and spin misinformation to create innuendos of impropriety.

Disagreeing with a hunting style is one thing but wrongly implying something sinister or illegal has occurred is objectionable. Remember, they have never hunted with Mark as I have. Their opinions beyond the dislike for his style or a specific action on tape with which they disagree are simply comments formed from unfounded speculation.

It sounds like your surgery went well and good to hear that you are at home. I hope you are on the mend very soon!

Sending my best wishes,
Shawn

Cal…I saw your post containing the data that you gathered by reviewing some of Mark’s DVDs. Interesting how the information you compiled conflicts with the contrived disinformation perpetuated by the few and then routinely repeated as factual for consumption.

Cal's study was great.

It proves beyond any shadow of a doubt what I have been saying about how incompetent Mark Sullivan is.

Clients fire 193 shots
Mark Sullivan fires 73 shots
Total animals killed 82

Mike,

They have already started their fan club.

Haven't you noticed how those of us who dislike what Mark Sullivan does are classified as "haters"?

And our Dr. friend from Germany has passed his judgement on us that we are mentally sick?

I must wonder what the average number of bullets required, including insurance, is for other buffalo hunting films? I haven't done the maths, but I imagine it is similar. I'd be happy to be proven wrong. I've stated before that I think three is a fair average, for buffalo. The first shot takes him by surprise, the second shot hits him as he runs, the third shot is insurance or a finisher. I proved this, to myself, again on the weekend with a wonderful scrub bull - my biggest yet - with my .458WM.

I'm not in any fan club that I'm aware of, sorry. And I sincerely hope that I have not labelled anyone as a "hater" or made judgements about their frame of mind.

I do enjoy Mark's DVDs, even if the way he speaks on camera is not what we are used-to in Australia - but he's not Australian. But I wouldn't let that make me unable to appreciate and respect and enjoy other aspects of his work.

Both these PHs are relative newcomers to the business and yet have become household names, great marketing job.

The math speaks volumes:

Thread on Saeed's videos: 47 posts, 1,087 views
Last 4 threads on MS: 823 posts, 37,598 views

The man's name does seem to draw a following.
No conclusions here, just stating numbers. It would be interesting to see who made the most posts on MS. Can you gents figure out on how to do this?
Cheers, gentlemen.
