A couple of months ago Chipolopolo posted a thread titled "Capstick is a Fraud", for doing so he was called everything but a white man. Since that time he and I have researched PHC's background and have received confirmation from PHAZ that he was never a member nor was he ever issued a professional hunter's license in the country of Zambia, we cannot speak for the other countries in which he claimed to have been licensed, such as Botswana. This confirms what we have been told by numerous real Zambian PHs. Why would he make such claims? Obviously someone has been less than truthful. | ||

So PHC took peotic license with his resume, if it makes you feel better fine. Get over it. Capstick has been revered for his writing ability nothing more. He has never been included on any list of prominent Professional Hunters so why make a big deal over it. I have had more than one professional hunter say that Capstick's books brought him so many clients that he could care less where the stories came from. If the PHs don't care, why should you. | |||

Very true. I tell you what though. I have read all Peter's books - I wish there more - as I have enjoyed them very much. In fact, He was instrumental in getting me to Africa. And I found out a long time ago that what he wrote has to be taken with a large dose of salt. The current criticism is well founded. Capstick brought it upon himself by lying in his writings. Would he have been able to write as much and as well if he did not tell all those lies? We don't know. The facts remain that he did, and that has been exposed. | |||

I have been on the Capstick worship team each time one of these bashing threads pops up. That said, I am glad that someone has tried to get the facts. PHC made some claims that should be easy to prove or disprove. At times he named the people he worked with. I really don't understand why things are still so unclear. I would live to read a biography and find out who the man behind the PHC legend really was. Who bloody cares if PHC did or didn't hold a stupid piece of paper that says he was a P.H. All I know is I first read Death In The Long Grass and it started the bug for me to want to go to Africa. Now I dream of it all the time. Currently I am getting some affairs in order for the next few years. Then as long as their is still hunting allowed in Africa I will go and it will be because of PHC.
