I think it is wonderful they are having such a good time, but daily phone calls and emails are kind of out of this world.

I go hunting to get away from the phone, computer and tv for a few weeks.

Bringing the entire world of AR with me is not something I would do. I appreciate the time and energy that is going into this report, and I just hope it is not detracting from the safari.

Leopard #2 down with 1 shot!!! Jim wouldn't tell me if his or Joyce's was the biggest! 3 more days in camp and they will slowly work their way home. Joyce has taken all the bait animals and will try for a hyena with the old baits tomorrow!

The adventure continues!

Fantastic news. Congratulations to you both. I can imagine the celebrations after this trip. But in all honesty, I doubt any kind celebration would match such a hunt!

Made it to Jo-Berg with all our gear. It's been an EPIC 7+ weeks.

Aaron - It's hard being a Wojo. Big Grin Hopefully we will draw a couple of Pronghorn tags and suffer some more come October. Wink

Big Wild Wyoming - Brett is correct. We only do what we wish to do and we wished to include a couple of friends along on the trip in spirit.

Darin - Sorry the Sat Phone connection sucked so badly. We were at the end of the Earth looking over the edge. Big Grin

Derek Littleton is an amazing man to spend some time with in the bush.

Teaser..... Joyce's at 17 yards, mine at 19 yards, both in broad daylight.

Congratulations to the both of you on what turned out to be an incredible safari. When you get a chance to catch your breath I would be interested in what you thought of L7 in terms of the quantity and quality of the overall game including the " big four" and the various plains game.

My Mozambique license number was 01. We were the first two people to hunt Moz this year and the bush was very very thick. Game was difficult to spot and the wet roads limited where we could go.

Impala and Waterbuck were plentiful and seen daily. The game act like animals you see in parks with no hunting. Derek limits the quota and rotates the camps. L7 is 4,500 sq. Kilometers with over 200 kilometers of Lugenda River front.

We saw Elephants but I believe Derek has removed them from quota. The adjoining blocks do little anti-poaching and have been hammered.

Lions called regularly and we saw tracks almost daily. One lion hit one of our old baits before we cut it down and his mane hairs were dark and about 10 inches long.

Leopards are everywhere and totally unschooled. We watched a female and a young male in broad daylight on the bait I took my male from. I shot mine 14 minutes in the blind after the truck left us off. No sneaking in. Joyce shot hers about an hour after sunup.

Derek likes to get up close. I can't speak for David or Garth.

We saw Buffalo sign and bumped a group in tall grass with about 5 feet of visibility. Again we were very very limited as to where we could get to.

Saw a small group of Eland and Zebra. Also saw Sable. Derek remarked that later in the season the Sable outnumber the Impala. Derek does not strike me as someone that exaggerates.

He was confident we would get two daylight leopards in 14 days but gave us 21 since we were heading in so early. Plus he really wanted to hunt with Joyce after following her battle.

He's a very good man!!

If you want to chat PM me a number in about a week.

Cheers
Jim

Nope!!

I shot the first two Impala with a camp CZ in .416 Rigby and then Joyce's Ruger Tang Safety 7 x 57 killed everything else once the bag with the ammo arrived.

My Army Navy 450 3 1/4NE killed the Elephant in Zim.

A delightful 7 1/2 weeks Jon....I never saw a Blaser. Wink

Cheers
Jim
