I did a hunt yesterday for a nice trophy wildebeest and shot a 29 1/2" bull my biggest so far but here is the one I actually went for i found him at 6 pm as relaxed as can be and he knew my limit was reached he will fight to live another day feel free to judge he's spread he has spread my mind already "Buy land they have stopped making it"- Mark Twain

Just comparing the ears to horn width on both animals, that second bull is something special! How big is "big" for a wildebeest? Rudi, Wildebeest are very deceiving if you take the length of the face of the one you shot and compare to the horns, then take the one that you didnt shoot it is very close to the one you shot. So I would say 29" a bull of 30" + you dont even have to think about twice. Just my 2 cents. Any wildebeest in the 29" is excpetional well done I would love to take one that size myself. Frederik Cocquyt I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

Well I was going to guess 34" but I see that seems to be the popular answer already. I have a head hanging across the room from me that's just a bit over 27" and the memories of that hunt are quite pleasant. Your's OR the brute found later would both be outstanding! the bull i shot gives me a face to horn ratio of 1-1.65 the other bull is 1-1.9 if 1.-1.65=29.5" then 1-1.9 comes to 33.96" ive measured from the base of the horn to the tip of the nose so my estimate are pretty close "Buy land they have stopped making it"- Mark Twain

Rudi, Heres a photo of a 33" bull that was posted a while back on AR shot with a bow nogal. See what I mean when over 30" they are just huge. Mine from 2004 is about 29 1/2", with 15" boss. Great blue wildebeest and anything bigger is a monster. This one is a nice solid 28", but had the most beautiful hide, and was shot for a full rug. Big ones are where you find them. You should be shooting any time you see one of these better guys in the field.

Blair, about 28/29" mate. It's a very good looking beasty though. Rudi, second Bull about 30", but the PH school gives you 1.5" error margin to either side for the big animals. I have the best plan....shoot and tape him, then we will know for sure I just hope Luan do'nt knick him out in front of you... Congrats on a top class bull in that first picture. If you do not mind, let me know if there are more bulls like that, I would love to have a krack at one myself. I'm looking for one on the wall. Not fun shooting big bulls out of my own hunting areas, does not make good business sense, and it will not be much fun. Blank, where was that picture taken? Picture of bull herd was from my Erindi trip in 2007. We were culling some old broken horns, and these posed for us. My wife snapped a perfect picture. Thought the best two were about 30-31".

I dont have the inch measurement offhand right now, but he scored a Namibian gold medal with a score of 217 under that method. Very large boss. Luckily my hunting partner put him down after I hit him a couple times. Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum
