Any guesses on the width of this wildebeast? Found this picture and thought it was pretty nice.

I took this guy last August in Botswana. I was hunting with Wild Game Safaris (www.wildgamesafaris.com). He looked absolutely unreal in the field. Like a Cape Buff among wildebeast. Shot him through the shoulder with a muzzy and he ran 40 yards and piled up within sight.

I am extremely pleased with him. At the time we taped him at a little over 33". Can't wait to get him up on the wall. I might enter him in SCI, might not.

I just might. My PH seemed to think it might go #1 with a bow. That would be something.

The #1 in Roland Ward is 33 7/8. There could be a change however. A client and I both took Blue's in that class this past June out of the same herd. We both used rifles however. Taking yours with archery...priceless! Congrats T.

There was an article in Magnum sometime in the late 90's, with the record being broken close to Alldays by an American or German hunter. I can not recall the details, but I used to know the PH very well. We lost touch, but his name is Tim. He had a German surname, if I remember correctly.....Updated records should give this info as fact.

A while ago there was a photo of a monster wildebeest as well in the African Outfitter magazine 33" + I think shot in the same area as well.

But the 33"+ with a bow is quite a feat in itself. Trophy of a lifetime. thumb

T, you'll want to have him scored no later than the last day of this month. That is the deadline for the next SCI records book. Should be within the top 1-3 Archery unless some sleepers are entered. Good hunting, David
