You really think DSC should refuse membership for SCI members?

If Uncle Fred left me millions, I would ramp up my hunting no doubt, but it would be for the animals and places I want to hunt, not the quest for rats and weasels to tick off on some award sheet. To each his own though.

Unless it's the Australian Saratoga Master Angler Award, and then I see nothing wrong with that. I know a deserving winner. I will sign a written statement that I held illegal fishing activities to an absolute minimum!. But I have to have that award!!!

Read the second paragraph as well.

It amounts to a conflict of interests - to which club would YOU show loyalty? animal

So there are NO rotten apples in DSC according to you? Really kinda doubt that as rotten apples are EVERYWHERE, even here on good ole AR. I guess you know who you are? Not hard to spot.

I will be going to DSC this year, so I will look real hard for "rotten apples" while there enjoying the show and report back if any are spotted. Roll Eyes I will then be a member of both DSC and SCI (International). fojo I guess you will just have to live with that fact?

Seems if you were in charge of a Club, it wouldn't have very many members as you would find it very hard to find folks who could live up to YOUR high standards. barf

Which in my opinion is wrong and if I had it my way, would not accept the registration of a member from a competing club unless accompanied by a copy of the letter rescinding membership from that club.

A lot of SCI folks want out, most are good people and are looking at DSC for a change; however the rotten apples fanatics really have no place in a Club which is aiming at raising camaraderie, standards and ethics.

I wonder how the DSC Committee would handle the ongoing cheating/fraud saga: would they accept the lady and her son if they applied for membership?

DSC was formed for a reason - to get away from SCI and its unacceptable system of operations.

Some in SCI might not/obviously don't believe it but there's actually nothing wrong with high standards & if the lady in question had lived up to the high standards the award suggested, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Wink

Don't be looking too hard, you are virtually guaranteed that you will find at least 3 but may have a problem finding the 4th (unless you look at the reflection in the mirror). Wink

There is some truth in what you say though:

i.e. DSC won't last long if they allow known SCI fanatics through their doors and the exact point I am trying to establish is the example which you, a recent member, has just set by mouthing DSC. rotflmo

Do you honestly believe that the number of active SCI members (who are sick and tired with SCI's antics)would not rescind/resign and show proof if required? - the umpteen dozens of other members who have already turned their backs on SCI in disgust who would gladly offer evidence of their turnaround? - Don't be too cock-sure of yourself.

I only hope the DSC Committee looks at all angles and makes every effort in producing a club worthy of membership, even if it means vetting each and every applicant - that's where the shoulder rubbing stops at the start!

Create an exclusive club - don't like it? - Move on!

Oh, by the way, I do happen to be a member of 2 exclusive clubs - one of which won't even let you through the gate! animal

I am looking forward to being a member of both SCI and DSC and will continue to support BOTH organizations knowing full well NO organization is perfect.

It seems you have found YOUR two PERFECT, Exclusive clubs(a little hypocritical don't you think?) Good for you. Damming those you think are elite and exclusive at SCI, but admitting you actually do the same yourself. shame

Didn't realize you were in prison, sorry. Maybe it's good they won't let me through the gate. Smiler

Wow!! Is this thread about whats better, SCI or DSC? They both serve a purpose and I too am a member of both..The whole thing boils down to an unethical hunt and I'm sure everyone wears halos on this forum..Keep the point that this was a hunt that was done illegally and the hunter got caught and had been fined according to the law. Unfortunately it has turned into that, as do most of the posts on AR-into something far from the original issue. In any event, SCI needs to BAN her from attending any SCI function, remove ALL of her entries from all of their entry books, STRIKE her name from the Diana Award and PROHIBIT her from ever joining SCI again. And yes, I have been told that there was a past SCI President that was recently kicked out of SCI, but last I heard he was either suing SCI or had threatened to do so in regards to the banishment. On what basis for either the banishment or the lawsuit I do not know, so don't ask me. Big Grin

Ed - Maybe if we wear a disguise and keep a low profile at DSC we won't be caught and have to have "Rotten Apple" printed on our badge? Roll Eyes

It would be interesting to know how many folks actually belong to BOTH clubs so fujotupu would have a accurate count for his crusade.

DSC members need to be members of SCI, if they want their trophies recorded officially, which of course many of them do. DSC doesnt have its own record book or scoring system - but it does have its own trophy awards.

I am greatly looking forward to the DSC convention - it certainly is the most enjoyable convention of the season!!! (my opinion)
SCI is good too - just a lot more work for exhibitors (members too I guess).

That's interesting, forgot about the SCI record book thing for DSC members. I guess it's OK for DSC members to be an SCI member, but it's NOT OK for an SCI member to be a DSC member? Whistling

I just heard a story about the Pearly gates that makes me to never want to get there!

Apparently a very pious and religious man arrived at the Pearly Gates and was give a gorgeous villa at the golf course as he was an avid golfer.

His villa also sits on a beautiful lake, full of fish, as he enjoys fishing too.

A few months later, he went and asked about the 72 virgins he had heard about while on earth.

He was told the 72 virgins will arrive by the evening.

Sure enough, there was a knock at his door just before sunset.

As he opened the door, he was faced with a line of 72 bearded mullah's, just like him!?

Surprised, he asked who they were.

"We are the 72 virgins you asked for " came the answer!

I suggest we sent all the crooked SCI head honchos to the pearly gates! beer

DSC won't let them in, while SCI top man was actively defending them!

He would still be doing that if the USFW did not arrest one its members I understand.

It does not need anyone with rocket science brains to realize the wide gulf that exists between these two organizations.

...any heads-up/update from the ivory tower at SCI about the alleged illegal Banteng hunt, where the client was a Boddington,
guided by SCI member Greg Pennicott Safaris?

Craig Boddington doesnt have very nice things to say about the Australian hunting safaris industry,
I wonder, does he share the same view about SCI and its shenanigans?

From what I hear of SCI top brass incriminating themselves by shooting animals under extremely shady conditions, the only way to clear this mess is to fire the bloody lot and start all over again.

Has SCI finally got into what is called "the mafia" mentality?

Where everything the top brass do is kept just for the "family" and no one outside should know about it?

Is that how all these silly "inner circles" came about?

Any SCI member wishing to shoot a rare Kentucky pigmy whitetail buck in a paddock, here is your chance.
Start a new record book with this one: NORTH AMERICAN PADDOCK RECORD BOOK.
Domestic cattle can be included therein.

The little red, plastic ear tag can be removed for trophy photo posing, after the buck is down.

For full details and price negotiation, contact "Outfitter Joe" who banks at Hancock Bank, near Nebo, Kentucky.

Outfitter Joe is 90 years old going on 91, always glad to help any needy SCI member, as long as they have the cash.
However, he says they must be willing to adhere to deer season dates.
Muzzleloader season opens again December 14-22, 2013.

You don't get to be 90 years old in his business unless you mind the season dates.
There are old outfitters and there are bold outfitters, but no old, bold outfitters ...

To add fuel to the fire, I belong to both SCI and DSC. I am also an active member of the Allegheny Mt Chapter of SCI and have been since it's inception. I enjoy providing Wish Hunts for youngsters as our chapter does. Don't want to hear local chapters are different from national after all it is the chapters that vote to elect the national officers.

And I joined DSC a couple of years ago.

I am getting first hand reports of some really sick behavior from certain SCI officials.

I am a member of SCI,DSC,NWTF,NRA and various other conservation and hunting/gun rights groups.
The one thing they all have in common is their desire to separate me from my money.
Whenever you have an organization with tens of thousands of members, there is going to be problems.
Unfortunately, bylaws and fear of lawsuits will often prevent the leadership from disclosing the details of actions taken.
The bylaws of SCI dictate removal for ethics violations. I expect this will happen.

aw, come on Saeed. they finally got rid of Dawie Groenwald- about 5-6 years after serious legal issues/complaints arose. i guess it was his indictment and guilty plea in US federal court that finally kicked them off their high horse- or was it the 40+ rhino carcases found on his farm in RSA?
