The show has moved to the convention center. So I guess a new hotel would be needed.

Gayne, the Comfort Inn was some distance (but not very far) from the previous site. I wouldn't think that would have bearing, but I haven't seen anything lately.

Just returned from a good trip to Alaska - cruise it was my first and probably last. I did meet a guide that does costal bear hunts and may do one with my son (Frank I hear you). I have checked out the new Dallas location for the Conv and the Comfort Inn is about the same distance from the new location as the old location. It is my recomendation we stay where we are as I also checked with many venues near the Conv center and they are all licensed locations which means we purchase all product both booze and food from them which will make the cost of the party about 3 times the cost of our do it ourselves as we can at the Comfort. I was thinking of calling the Comfort Inn in the next couple of weeks (prior to my leaving for Africa dancing) and blocking about 15/20 rooms and get an email conformation of the party room so as to not have the problem from last year. My only question is do we have commitment for that # of rooms

Frank I am back in the office.

Remind me I owe you a beer! My thoughts exactly on the cruise ship fiasco. Once was enough for me. Absolutely loved Alaska and it's people, but no more floating cities for me.
I'll commit to a room and I have a couple of more that will most likely commit as soon as I call them. Will update ASAP.
Thanks to you and Frank...again. beer

I'll take a room.

Remember the rules and the events, though.

1.You can not participate unless you already have or either this is your first time.
2. You must have a first and last name. Bono, Prince, Zorro and Batman are not invited. Ganyana has a special dispensation.
3. Dress is optional for the party. That's not clothes optional, btw. In other words, it's o.k. for MJines to wear a nice outfit from Lilly Pulitzer , but he can't come naked. Women are excluded from this rule.
4. Tex from youtube.com will be the featured speaker at the party. (He may bring his good friend, Mark Sullivan, I hope, I hope!) .
5. All attendees must bring an Arturo Fuentes maduro for the founder of the party... namely "me".
6. At 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the lobby, Jeff Wemmer and Chuck Norris will fight in a cage, that is, if Chuck is brave enough.
7. To scientificly settle the great .45/70 debate, I will be shot in the head with Garrett loads to prove that concrete is tougher to penetrate than an elephant's brow. If I survive, I get a free hunt with Out of Africa. If I die, my insurance will go to Will so he can buy some shirts with sleeves.
8. Frank Beller has to leave some sausage and gravy at breakfast or stay eleswhere, but his wife can come and be my taxi driver, anytime.
9.No whiskey may be drunk unless it is first sampled by a tasting committee to include me and my date.
10. And the most important rule... If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

The only problem with the new convention location is the parking, and the fact that it is on the edge of Downtown Dallas, a high crime area.

I wonder of the Comfort Inn has a shuttle??

David - I'll have to stay in touch on this one so mark me down as "pending". Last year the wife and I went but couldn't make the AR event due to a prior committment with our son (although we did see & talk with some of the guys at the Hyatt). Now this year my wife wants to try Reno so I am going to have to try to convince her otherwise.

Just spoke with the Comfort Inn. I have blocked 15 rooms for our group at $99+ tax. I have the conference room reserved for the 9th so we won't have the problem from last year. When you call for res tell the either Ed Seager or Accurate Reloading. I told them I hoped we would have the res booked within the next couple of weeks so if we need more they will have rooms available. Hopefully we will have the 15 or even more as they are giving us the conference room rent free.

Thanks for adding the #'s etc Judge. Smiler

I just called the Comfort Inn to make reservations. They said they are twelve minutes away from the Convention Center and no shuttles are available. Does this create a big hastle with rental car expense and parking. What are the options? Ideas? Thanks.

For those who may not know, DOJ, my wife and I are driving down (as always). We will have a car that we can help shuttle folks back & forth to the convention. Joyce always goes to the show for one day, then she runs around in Dallas, & tries to help with anyone needing a ride somewhere during the week of the show. So, don't worry too much about getting to the show. Also, it's your responsibility to call the Comfort Inn to confirm your own room (their number is 214-461-2677). FRANK
