I have added a video clip of our trackers and game scout eating gun powder!

This all started a couple of years ago, when my wife brought a small bottle of some organic salt, that looked just like gun powder.

She said as she handed it to me "I am sure you will find some ways of using this!"

Well, I took am empty primed case with me, and a bullet.

I put the salt in the case, and seated the bullet, and put it in my ammo belt.

We had some sour, green, mangos, and hard boiled eggs. I took the cartridge from my belt, pulled the bullet out, and sprinkled some powder on my egg and ate it.

Everyone followed suit.

In this video, they were eating their lunch, and asked for some powder to have with their meat!

We shot a Grant's gazelle, and just as we got to him 4 Masai warriors appeared.

Two had cell phones with them.
All had spears.
One had a bow and arrows.

We asked them to show us their arrows.
They had one with poison on it. They said they reserved that for any lion that might attack their cattle.

Anyway, we asked them to show us how they shoot their arrows.

He picked a non poisoned one, and fired it into the carcass of the Grant's. He hit it precisdely where he said he would.

We then shoed them my molly coated bullets. And explained to them that our poison works much faster, and has no effect if touched!

We also showed them that our gun powder can be eaten. And gave them a demo.

They all had a bit.

Then Alan told them to stay away from a fire for a while.

One asked how long?

Alan answered 2 days!?

The looks on their faces was priceless.
They said what should they do then when they need to cook their food?

We told them to get their friends to cook it the next two nights.

I am processing a video clip of Walter giving Roy a hard time after he shot his buffalo.

Roy managed to get cut by the scope on his rifle. Walter arrived, and things became a bit funny.

I promise you, you will see things you have never imagined happen after a buffalo is killed! rotflmo

Curiosity has gotten the best of me and I tried Saeed's lime and tabasco snack and I'll be damned if it isn;t a tasty little treat! Have always eaten limes like a sailor but tabasco and salt is very interesting. Wife already cringes at the peanut butter and onion sandwiches, now she'll have another snack to shake her head at...

The nature photos are outstanding, particularly some of the ones with birds or game in motion.

Are you manually focusing? IMO if using one of the many matrix autofocuses you still have to throw out a lot of bad photos - using a Nikon D3 and different glass including 70- 200 and 200 - 400.

Some info about your equipment and techniques would be appreciated.

Thx.

The videos do work, you just need to use the link in my post at the top of this thread.

My suggestion is to right click on the link, then SAVE TARGET AS to your hard disk.

You then have the clips on your computer, and can watch them any time you wish, rather than having to log in and watching them on line.

I have added a couple of clips of a video of Walter showing Roy what one should get after he shoots a buffalo.

This video is in 5 parts, and I will add the other 3 clips tomorrow.

Please right click on the link and save it to your computer.

I nominate Roy for an Oscar for his patience with all of Walters shinanigans!

Saeed, I was away for a few days and am just getting caught up. I've checked out all the reports and have thoroughly enjoyed them! The photo quality improves every year and these are just stunning. The scenery in Masailand is even better than I would have imagined.

I am looking forward to seeing all the vid clips. At my connection speed they take 15 to 20 minutes to download though, so I'll be at it all evening. Smiler

Cheers!
Chris

Chris,

Put all the 5 clips in your video editing program, and join them together.

Codec is WMV 720p.

We watched this clip with Walter before I cut it up.

And do you know what he said?

He was laughing, obviously enjoying himself, but had to add:

"This is all your fault. You have bad effect on everyone around you. Can you imagine Roy going along with what I was doing?"

I said "Are you trying to say that you are a normal, sane, person when I am not around?"

"YES, YES, YES!"

If anyone believes that they believe anything!

I have added a video of two buffalo bulls we have shot.

WE found the tracks of a number of bulls early in the morning, and we followed them for a while.

We caught up with them feeding, and shot both bulls that we found.

We thought there were 4 altogether, but somehow the other two got seperated from these.

It turned out to be a great morning hunt, with two bulls dropped in their tracks right in the open.

I hope you enjoy the video.

I have added videos of a hyena, eland, 2 more buffalo and a duiker.

We were driving along looking for buffalo early on the safari, and so far they seem to have eluded us.

We saw a herd about a couple of miles away on an island in the swamp, and it was a bit late in the afternoon.

We thought we would give it a try, and try to cross to them and see if we can shoot one.

We managed to cross on foot, and shot a bull.

The other buffalo was shot in the morning.

We saw teh tracks of a big herd, and followed them. I think they must have split, as the larger part seems to have gone off somewhere, and we caught up with a small herd, and got one bull.

The eland have been playign tricks on us. As we see their tracks, but never got the chance to see them. This happened on several days, until this afternoon.

We saw the fresh tracks of the herd, and followed them. It wasn't long before we saw them. We could see a number of hyoung bulls, including one that had very long horns. But he was still very young.

You might also notice in the video that onehad his right horn bent round in a sort of circle.

We got lucky, and managed to get the bull we wanted.

The duiker was an order from Walter for a BBQ.

The hyena was a chance encounter.

It was early in the morning, and we had just shot a topi for meat.

We saw this hyena running a long way away. But, it seems that it was his bad day. As All I could see was his head and neck, I aimed about level with the top of his head over his neck, and fired.

The bullet broke his neck.

Great videos! Thanks for posting,Saeed.
A lot of good hunting and happy people! clap

I have downloaded and viewed all except those latest "Buffalo" with file names:

2010buf1
and
2110buf4

Those have only 306 bytes per file instead of the 100 MB +/- of the other video clips.

Anybody else have trouble with those two "Buffalo" links?
The Emperor has no clothes on those two?

I did see that eland with one horn growing in a circle. Eeker

That would make an excellent "Outer Circle" trophy!!! Big Grin

The answer is that one get 9 camels the other gets 6 and the last son gets 2 camels.

it is about rounding off the fractions to a common denominator.

Just if you were intrested in the answers. lol

Very good.

Trouble is very few people seem to remember the basics of maths - the common denominator.

I love telling to kids.

And after they spend time and not able to sort it out, I tell them the following.

As they are unable to get the problem solved, they went and found a wise old man.

He told them he will solve their problem by giving them one more camel.

And so if you use 18 instead of 17, hyou get the answers you have given.

And unbeknown to them, they go home thinking that they have gotten an extra camel.

My hat's off to you sir.

After watching those videos, all I can say is you sure do put on one heluva shooting clinic. You may be small in stature but you handle that long-barreled rifle with aplomb.

The running shot on the warthog was remarkable. I kept saying to myself, "what a shot!" Talk about cool, calm and collected.

I finally got the videos downloaded and stitched together yesterday. Big Grin rotflmo Funny stuff!

I think that's the first time I have ever seen "high velocity splatter" from a scope cut! I thought the amount of blood on Roy's shirt was impressive until I saw the underside of his cap brim!!! Eeker

Now to download the others...

Cheers!
