For 2006 or 2007 read 2026 or 2027 I am looking at a 7 day all inc buff offer in RSA which is USD 11.500/- inc a hard boss bull and a buff cow. Observer USD 1.000/-. Big property and good references.

Same hunt 2 x 1 is USD 10.500/- plus observer(s) USD 1.000/-

Doing the maths if a couple booked back to back 7 day hunts it would be USD 25.000/- for 14 days for 2 bulls and 2 cows 1 x 1 hunting and 2 x observer fee. Versus USD 21.000/- to hunt 2 x 1 for 7 days.

USD 4.000/- more for an extra week in the veld for the two of us? No brainer if you have the time.

Anyone ever booked back to back hunts before ?

Only option for 2x1 is if a father is hunting with his son, or daughter.

The savings do not warrant two individual hunters doing it.

I had a client who had a hunt booked in S Africa. He also wanted to hunt Tanzania. So, I booked him in Masailand on a 21-day hunt. He said it would be silly to go home and then come back 3 weeks later for his SA hunt, so, he booked a second 21-day hunt in the Selous and then went straight to SA.

This is how you are supposed to live if you can afford it.

Book two hunts.

I’ve always thought the 2x1 hunts were a screw job to the hunter. Often the difference in price is so little it’s not even the usual PH salary daily.

I’ve never done back to back package hunts, but have done back to back hunts both here in the US and over in Africa. Frankly, with travel being what it is, anything less than 2 weeks doesn’t seem like a vacation- it takes me several days to get out of the work mindset, and I usually start worrying about what I’m coming back to 3-4 days before I return, so a self imposed 2 week minimum, otherwise why use vacation time?

If you like the outfit and hunting ground, booking two in a row makes sense although I suspect if you are willing to do that, talking to the outfitter they might come up with a somewhat better deal for you than just doubling the package price.

Sounds like a South African deal- they have the lodge, land and animals and are paying for them anyhow… they should have some negotiation room.
