Dewey - This is not meant to berate you as I understand full well why you are irked by inappropriate name calling and nasty comments. I want to make clear that I think you are a good man, as well as a good Canadian.

I simply remind you, before you inadvertently offend those of whom you think well here, there are several kinds of Americans.

One of them is the "Ugly American" who is ignorant, vain, pushy, rude, and arrogant.

Thankfully, that is not the typical American. The typical American, even in the ghettos of the big cities, is a good person, doing his/her best to make it through each day as best they can. There are a lot of those folks here at AR, perhaps especially among the lurkers.

Having lived about half of my life in each country (Canada & the U.S.), I've found the innate characteristics of the people to be much the same. Canada too has its share of pricks, and smug, arrogant bullies. Ugly Canadians display their traits somewhat differently, in a more passive-aggressive way, while Ugly Americans are very immediately over-reactive and overt in their actions (and speech).

But both countries are jammed full with decent folk, sprinkled with some outright jerks.

Everyone has to sort out for themselves who fits in which group, the Ugly or the Decent, and hope their judgement calls are not errors they end up regretting.

My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

That, was my point as I used the direct quotation from his silly comment to me to illustrate that he, in respect of his behaviour here seems to BE an ...ugly American.... Perhaps, I was a bit more subtle than I might have been, however, I am trying to get him to see that he is making an ass of himself here and to no good purpose that I can discern.

YOU, on the other hand, are always polite and worth reading, BUT, you are a bad baztard and have FAR too many neat guns that you should bring "home" to we Canucks and I will help look after them all.....what a guy, eh! Wink

Dewey can be blunt in his replies, but instead of taking offense, I find it rather refreshing. he has plenty of practical knowledge without having to wade through bullshit to find it. I find him more genuine then most posters.

tu2 Me too. And from what he writes of Alberta & British Columbia, and some areas we have both tromped, I know he is the real deal.

AR would not be nearly as valuable to me without him.

I went back and read all nine pages of this, I thought for those who just stopped in, I'd do a in-a-nutshell version.
Any of us that have posted here are,
So brilliant the sun dims before us, or
so dumb we wouldnt roll the window down before we tried to spit. Both depends on which side of the keyboard your on.
Anything you say is discredited by what I say. ( see above)
I'm tougher then any ten men you can think of.
And, it's a nice looking rifle but I want you to give me one, with ammo, and the condition that I will live to be 100 yrs old and can say I told you so at that time, for which ever side I'm on in this debate.
Have I missed anything? Wink

Aw c'mon Joe surely you can be a little more expansive than that. Shucks, is that it. Only about 83.6% of this whole damn thread has been about your pussbucket buddy dancing up and down things that havent been related to this thread, so dont get testy when others do it better and expose it for what it is. You should have pulled him up on it 300 posts ago ya old buffoon.

I tell ya what, I'll delete all my "troll posts" if you can convince ISS to do the same.
Then the playing field will be level.

All ISS has to do is re-read everyone of his posts and delete or edit any post that dosent directly answer the question posted by Mike.

OKAY JD? Let me know your thoughts and then tell me who the Troll is.

Dewey, most people would have to shell out good money to be able to do this and your offering to take ISS sightseeing for free. Eeker

What can I say, I am a kindly old geezer and would take this young guy into some very beautiful country and let him experience mountain camping and see what he has to say then.

BTW, I DO NOT ...cap... people and probably would not bother packing a gun, but, it is a moot point as I think some things are only too obvious here..........

Come to DSC or SCI and we'll chat. I do not go to countries with such restrictive gun laws as Canada. I stopped going to the rifle matches in Penticton because of your draconian firearms laws several years ago.

TB40, one of the best things about a Para-Ordnance is the steel composition.

My offer still stands of a bus ticket.

regards,

Rich

No, Rich, I am NOT ...lame... or at least not very lame, given my shattered legs which STILL backpack in the BC wilderness at some years older than you are, the car just needs a new waterpump and I am waiting for it to arrive and my Toyota mechanic to install it....very simple, old boy, just regular maintenance as one does on one's guns.

Idaho is not bad, generally good people and I like Montana and Alaska, too, but, nothing in the Lower Fortyeight compares with BC, even the thousands of Yanks who come here every year to hunt and fish will agree with that...or, why would they come?

Our gun laws ARE totally whacked, too many immigrants and faggots in Parliament,BUT, it is a LOT easier for you to enter Canada, with your gun(s) than for me to enter the USD with mine....liberals have f**ked us all, loathsome creeps!

I have not been to the USA since the late '90s for much the same reason and it is a real pita, as we used to enjoy going to Seattle every once in awhile. Kesselring's Gunshop in Alger, WA, is just a super place and what a gunstore SHOULD be and all too few are.

Now, there is a fabulous Westley .375 Flanged (H&H magnum version) on Martini's site and only $44.000, so, go for it and you will be happy and will not have to stoop to a mere singleshot! Smiler

Dewey,

We agree on two things, the hunting is good up in your country, and your gun laws are a bit draconic.

Be careful here. If you keep this tone up, we could end up agreeing on more things and become friends.
I'd be okay with that, btw.

regards,

Rich

In case someone missed it:

I have been in PM with one of Glenn Soroka's friends in NZ. I now have the details of the rifle.

I AM APOLOGIZING AT THIS TIME TO GLENN SOROKA FOR ANY LESS THAN COMPLIMENTARY THINGS I MAY HAVE SAID ABOUT GLENN.

It is a beautiful rifle. I would still like to own one. Pushing 62, there are too many things in front of it on my bucket list.

regards to all,

Rich

Rich, whatever your reasons may have been, IMHO you did the right thing.

In view of this, I have deleted several of my posts.

Agreed, I deleted most of mine earlier this morning and just finished doing so on the other thread concerning Glenn's rifles.

I do agree, I have other priorities as my wife and I want to visit "Oz" as I have a nephew there, and one is going back. We want to visit Germany, the UK, Norway to see ancestral domains and we have relatives in Norway whom we wish to meet. I also have far more nice rifles than I can ever use, but, IF, I were to buy another rifle, it WOULD BE one of Glenn's or a Hagn....both, if I returned to work in the bush where you make good money and can save it.

So, my respects to Rich for manning up and now I want more photos of those rifles.

Hi,
Thanks for tidying up this thread. Makes for a more pleasant read thats for sure.
More pics, sure, heres some pics of a receiver that has been engraved by the well known US engraver Lee Griffiths. I am pretty happy with the way this turned out.

I have a Martini Hagn in 300h&h and it will put three 200gr Nosler Accubonds in one ragged hole at 100 yards.

I have a very nice 300 H&H rifle that was built on the Hagn action and sub-MOA at 100 yards is the norm.

soroka - That is a beautiful action. Are the actions available separately? Regardless, I am sure that will make an absolutely wonderful rifle.

Here's hoping we will see a Soroka booth at SCI in about four months with half a dozen rifles, and actions for sale.
