Larry,

Wish I knew, we stumbled upon this skull in the side of a washed out creek one day hunting over there. I was in RSA on a 75000 acre ranch at the time that (that portion) had been in the family for 4 generations and no one they knew of died on the place. Could have been there for a long time, or could have washed down the creek some time ago and the recent rains could have resurfaced it.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Amazing photo of you (I would guess) and your trophy. Have you told the story about your "hunt" of that Tahr on any of the fourms here?

Actually a very good friend of mine and his tahr,( his first and only ) taken on foot , shot up high in an ice chute , left out overnight cos it was too dark and dangerous to retrieve at the time , then hauled off the mountain next morning in drifting fog down to the riverbed below .

Not much of a story really .... Wink

That is my son and heir with the suppressed Marlin and the rabbit - one shot at approx 160 yards at that same downhill angle - using standard velocity loads.

Sounds like the making's of a pretty good story to me. Still a mighty fin picture.

I have two sons, the oldest loves to hunt with me, the youngest, not so much.
Here is my oldest, Glenn III,named after his grandfather with the buck he killed last season.
It was killed the eve of December 26. Glenn decided it was a pretty good Christmas present.

I was at the American Cemetery on Omaha Beach last summer and took some photos:

Below is the museum at the cemetery.

The 1st Infantry Division monument is just below the cemetery in the draw going down to the beach. There are 627 names of D-Day KIA engraved on the monument

Often overlooked on a Normandy visit is the D-Day Memorial at Caen. It is an excellent museum of Operation Overlord, probably the best. The architecture of the building is monolithic, representing the "Atlantic Wall" and the entrance represents the breach in the wall.
