Hello, i just returned from my trip to belarus and want to share some impressions with you. The hunt was organised by our forummember profyhunter/Ingor Kancev (Extremtours) who I can highly recommend. I went there to hunt european moose (also a small chance on boars and Wolf). The country was very interesting, with nice people and some nice wodka. The hunting area is 127000hectars consisting of forest, swamps, fields and fallow land. Got my moose on the 4th day when the rut startet. My very good guide Alexander called the bull in while we were stalking in a swamp. I tell you it is damn impressive to have a grunting angry bull right in front of you. Not a huge bull but a passable size for a european moose and i am very happy with it. I enjoyed every minute of this hunt and the country. The guesthouse Morning in the swamps My guide Alexander Myself skinning the bull

Wonderful pix, and congrats on the moose. Didn't realize how light colored their legs were. Steve "He wins the most, who honour saves. Success is not the test." Ryan "Those who vote decide nothing. Interesting, thanks for sharing Caracal and Waidmannsheil on a fine "Elch" You probably flew there, what airline did you use to get there -- Euro WBK or DE WBK or both, and were there any issues? Hi, thank you! I flew with austrian airlines from Dusseldorf over Vienna to Minsk. Austrian takes no extra fee for weapons! I used my Euro Wbk. No problems with customs here or in Belarus (Ingor did all the paperwork for me). dennis

Great, thanks for the info, my reason for asking is that with weapons some airlines charge more or some don't even let you fly with weapons, thanks again, looks like that would be a very interesting area to hunt. Maybe someday I'll make it there, Dom. -------- There are those who only reload so they can shoot, and then there are those who only shoot so they can reload. I belong to the first group. I had the good fortune to hunt Belarus a few years back for moose, boar and roe. I had an excellent time and met some very friendly and hospitable people.

FROM HUNTING REPORT: Hunting European Moose In Belarus North American Style Published: November - 2008 If you're interested in hunting European moose but don't care for the traditional driven hunts used in that part of the world, then this hunt in Belarus may be for you. Belarus is slightly smaller than the State of Kansas and is sandwiched between Russia and Poland. It attained its independence from the USSR in 1991 but has closer political and economic ties to Russia than any of the other former Soviet republics. The country is relatively flat, with vast forests of hardwoods and evergreens broken up by a web of rivers, lakes and great bogs. Much of the northeastern end of the country is semi-wilderness. As hunting destinations go, it is largely overlooked by international hunters, yet it offers one of the largest herds of European bison in Europe, as well as red stag, wild boar, wolf and European moose. Honor Roll subscriber J.Y. Jones recently returned from Belarus, where he killed a trophy-sized European moose that is bigger than both the Shiras and Eastern Canadian moose he took in North America. What's more, he says he shot this moose on a hunt conducted much like a moose hunt back home. It measures 42¼ inches wide in spread, has big palms and 13 points. (See photo in the Trophy Gallery section of our web site.) Jones expects it to rank high in the SCI Record Book once it dries and is formally scored. Jones traveled to Belarus as part of a quest to collect all 52 Eurasian species from 22 countries in Europe with his Remington 700 in 7mm Ultra Mag. When looking for a place to hunt moose, he had considered Finland. The traditional method of moose hunting there and other places in Scandinavia involves driving the moose toward stationed hunters. A second method often employed in neighbor. http://www.huntingreport.com/h..._details.cfm?id=2147
