Sorry I'm sure I'm posting in the wrong forum but what kind of fish is this? It was sent to me by someone who said it was a Pirahna but I thought they only lived in South America. Someone straighten me out please.

Thats one big Tiger fish. I have not caught one that big before. They do not look as beautiful when they are out of water as they do when they are on the end of your line and they first jump out of the water and the sun hits their scales Mike With kind regards Mike Mike Taylor Sporting Hunting, Fishing & Photographic Safaris Worldwide +44 7930 524 097 mtaylorsporting@gmail.com Instagram - miketaylorsporting

I think you may be right on that. It probably is the giant species. With kind regards Mike Mike Taylor Sporting Hunting, Fishing & Photographic Safaris Worldwide +44 7930 524 097 mtaylorsporting@gmail.com Instagram - miketaylorsporting

Butch, I think they call them Goliath Tigerfish but I don't know much more than that about them. That baby would be fun on some moderately light tackle. Mark MARK H. If piranha (sp?) got that big, could you imagine 50 or so in a school attacking a swimmer or a cow. What a Tiger! I hope to be fishing for them next March after I get a p.a.c. elephant! JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

Definetly a Tiger, Probably caught in Kariba as the tigers that are caught in the river systems are much leaner and more streamline. Looks like a 20kg pluss fish ... nice to take but not that common anymore. I just like things that go BANG!!!
