granted this one is wierd...

has anyone tried to get this to feed in a bolt by cutting off the rim and adding a flush rim and extractor groove???

maybe if the brass is trimmed to 375 h+h length this would be an interesting round since hornady will be making components and ammo.

kinda like a longer 9,3x66 which is almost par with the 375 h+h in power.

other variants would be to neck up to 375 and 411

why????

extra round down and for fun i guess...cant think of any better ideas

if you had a 9,3 that had a longer action

welll..
sorry boomy,,,,
it's smaller based than the 30-06 case, and far smaller than the 9,3x64,
9,3x74 is what, 83 grains of water?
the 375 tayor is 87+

it IS larger in capacity than the 375 whlen, though...

but 2 grains more than the 376 steyr...

and lower pressure brass..

the 9,3x62 is 78gr... or 5 gr less...

So, this is what you would end up with
is
$250 in reamer and gages
$160 in dies
unknown in brass cost/what you loss rate would be making
at least 250 in gunsmithing charges
or about 650 bucks BEFORE the action

which you can buy a cz in 9,3x62 for 599, and have it delivered for less
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=60690413

low pressure brass...

and even improved, you would still have to underload (pressure) than the 9,3x62

and have a NIGHTMARE making brass

to ME, there's got to be a point to a wildcat, that is, do something nothing else does, fit in an interesting action, improve an existing round..

but derimming a perfectly good flanged round for PERHAPS 100 fps more, when there's brass issue... it's HARD to make.. ask anyone with a 300 gibbs how much making complicated brass is.

give me about a year and i'll tell you how the 9.3 x 74r will feed in a 1917 enfield... as soon as i get caught back up with some back $$, the project will start....shilen barrel, 26" #3 taper...nice iron express sights, and quick detach low power leupold....composite stock, ought to be fun to shoot....

go big or go home ........
