Gentlemen,

I thought it would be interesting to see what wildcats everyone loads for, has loaded for, or has developed. Other posters could then refer to this thread to see who might be able to help them with information on particular cartridges. This is actually the reason that I stumbled onto Accuratereloading 5 years ago. I had just built a 6.5 Gibbs and was looking for data and/or someone to share their experiences with the cartridge.

Anyway, I'll go first....I have:

6.5 Gibbs
416 Taylor
470 Mbogo

Cheers,
Canuck

My .224" Magnum - 6.5 RM case shortened to 2" case length.

.219 Improved Zipper - This is a wildcat. It's impractical to fireform current 219 Zippers.

6 mm Rem International

I suppose my 8.15 X 46R is a "wildcat" It's obsolete anyway. My .25 Stevens is in the same
boat.

Now that many are listing improved cartridges I have an 06 and .375 improved and wish I did not.

I don't currently have any wildcats, so how did I end up as the leader of the forum?

Anyhow, I do load a few rounds that could be considered obsolete, or at the very least, uncommon.

Wildcats I've loaded in the past were:
218 mashburn bee
6.5 Grassl Rimmed, a 30/30 necked down w/ 38 deg shoulder
357 Herret
35 Whelen ackley improved
458 Lott, was a cat when I loaded for it.

Some years past, 338-06 AI.
Now, 375 Whellen AI.
Over a year ago, Ken Howell helped me design a 44 wildcat that I call the 440 ACE (Arctic Circle Express). This is essentially a 444 Marlin with a fat body, using a shortened 45-90 case, cut to 2.222 in (same as 444), and necked down. My intentions were to re-chamber a 444 Marlin levergun, with some mods to the internals (or exchange to 45-70 parts). I've yet to produce this one (my brother bought my 444 levergun), and have put it on temporary hold. ~~~Suluuq
