22/3030 Ackley Improved, 338/06 Ackley Improved; 257 Ackley Improved; and 257 Weatherby. I know, you say the Wby isn't a wildcat. the rifle that I load for has a custom barrel with short leade and tight chamber, so it requires loads well below factory.

My first, fired live ammo today. 30-357 DGW.....A 357 Maximum necked to accept .30 Cal bullets.

Shot (4) each:
165g Hornady SST,same as I shoot from my Garand
100G Hornady Varmint round (designed for .30 Carbine- kind of a lead with a half jacket
90G XTP (a pistol bullet)

The rifle is a Marlin 336 that I re-chambered and set-up as a take-down, so today was a test of both Rifle and Ammo. Shot one each out in the woods with the gun strapped to my lead sled..me at the other end of a 30 ft line. No signs of pressure, so I took it to the range. Rifle functioned flawlessly, but I've got to work on my loads a bit.

I know this one ain't gonna take the world by storm, but that wasn't really the point... I did this just to prove I could. Next will be take-down barrel in .357 Max/.357 Mag/.38 SP. If that works, well...another switch barrel will be forthcoming...a standard cal or a wildcat? TBD

I only load for one true wildcat and that is a .500 MDM Ultra mag.

.375 Rum cases blown out with corn-meal and a light pistol powder load semi fire-forms them, then trim to 2.79 and load-em up.

The first corn-meal load gets them near enough for full hunting loads. After the first full firing they are perfect and RUM brass lasts for a looong time.

I remember loading for the .458 Lott before cases and loaded ammo was available in the store. I had to physically import a reamer from the U.S for my gunsmith to chamber a rifle for me at the time and look where the Lott is now !!!

I also load for a 9.3x64 and accorded to the cost and availability of components it may as well be a wild-cat !!!

6.5mm Remington SAUM on a Remington 700 Short Action.

With 62.5 grs Hodgon Retumbo I'm pushing the 143gr Hornady ELD-X at 3070fps out of a 24 inch 1:8 twist fluted Criterion barrel and getting sub half MOA.

Ballistically, I look apon it as being equalivalent to a 24 inch .264 Winchester Magnum.

Updated, again, my wildcats and other folks' designs that I load, that might be considered wildcats or "proprietary."

I am still up a tree tangling with the wildcats and wish someone would shoot amongst us.

Somebody has got to get some relief here!

In the works:

A Remington Rolling Block 50-70 throated for my pet .510 to .512"/650 to 680-grain cast bullet at whatever speed will stabilize it in a 1:24" twist.
Smokeless will be easy, BP is questionable.
Might become known as the "500 Nitro For Black Powder Short Bus Express 1.75-Inch" if successful. BOOM

A .500 Buhmiller using a .500-caliber bullet rebated to .476" heel at bullet base, to sit atop a 470 Capstick case. BOOM

The .410/404 Jeffery Justified: Think .416 Dakota using different brass and bullet.
But boom stick is enabling the sickness with a suggestion of the .410/.375 H&H Unadulterated, aka his "400 Karamojo." BOOM

Somebody please shoot up into the tree where I am tangling with these wildcats!

"...I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprize, and independance to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks."
