I chopperdan@plateautel.netJUST GOT BACK from a great Lion hunt Safari in Zimbabwe with Jimba Safari's! This is the Second safari with this outfit and PH Wayne Dietrichsen.
We hunted near Hwange national park. We had been tracking a pride of lions, around 15 or so and on the 4th day, early in the a.m. this HUGE lion was following the pride. I shot .416 remington magnum and my son followed up with a 7mm. Down he went. As we approached these huge lionesses were in the bushes about 20 yards away growling like crazy at us. The PH shot in the air and they scattered. This was a fantastic hunt! We also shot, kudu, sable and a 14 ft croc in sijiaria camp at lake kariba.

There were 4 or 5 huge lioness and there were cubs. There was also a large younger male lion with them each day. then this one showed up following the other lions. He was following them. Each day we would see his tracks following after them, but never with them.

I am trying to locate the exact area, but we stayed at camp melindi (railroad car births) it was a very nice camp and we drove for about 30 minutes each morning to the consession area. We had to pic up the local scout, and we had a park ranger with us. It was Just ouside Hwange across the train tracks close to Kennedy train stop. Lots of game, it was incredible! Last year we went with Jimba Safaris to the Amundomdumela forest about 40 clicks away and shot a huge 75 pounder Elephant!
