Awesome lion & elephant. Congratulations. What a story the boy will have to tell his mates - for years to come!

Mike...my guess would be the Gwaai ICA.

Yep...apparently and excellent area based on results! See the thread I started on Gwaai Ranches for more info.

Safari2,
I read your other thread, and it appears to me that the concensus is that this is indeed seized land. Does anyone know for a fact if this is true? ChopperDan? Mark Young (I include your name only because I seem to remember you, Adam Clemens, or both, being the booking agent for Wayne Dietrechsen/Jimba Safaris last report I read)? I know myself (and others) would like to know the status of Gwaai, who is booking and running hunts on it?

I do not know who is "running" the area, but the camp there is "malindi" and its 1950's coach railroad cars, built up on a porch and dining area. Very nice. Jimba Safari's with Wayne Dietrechsen was our PH and owner of Jimba Safari's and was very very professional and trustworthy. He was born and raised in Zim and knows the language and has many extensive contacts all over the place from Lake Kariba down to Bulawayo. We were very impressed. My hunting partner from last years elephant hunt wants to come back and hunt with Wayne D. he was so impressed. shoot him an email. jimba safaris <wayned@zol.co.zw>

I was hoping one of the Zimbos or perhaps Mark would chime in on this to clarify things for you but I guess they might all be busy hunting.

I'd recommend you try to make absolutely 110% sure who is 'running the area' because IF (note the big IF) you hunted or stayed on seized/dodgy land etc you might (probably will) be in breach of the Lacey Act & that alone could cause you very serious problems....... importing your trophies could cause you further problems.

Quite honestly, you should have sorted this out before you went on safari but (IMO) the longer you leave it, the more trouble you COULD (note the big COULD) be in.

I reckon it's important that you get this right..... not only for your own good but also for others who might also be considering a similar hunt.
