Quote Eland Slayer - "I am a trophy hunter, I like to hunt and shoot trophy animals. To me, a 280" 12 pt. stag is not a trophy....so I'm not going to make a special trip to NZ to hunt one that size. " Let me try to summarise the issues here amid all the emotion & side tracking. The topic is "Where can you HUNT 400 inch Red stags in NZ for less than $15,000?". To answer the question - you cannot HUNT a 400" red stag ANYWHERE in NZ. You can only shoot farm raised genetic breeding stock of that size. Freak once in a hundred year stags from the Wairarapa or Pureora are an exception & not available to trophy hunting clients on request. The other isue is - What is a HUNT? Most Kiwis will argue that farm raised paddock grazing animals are shot & not hunted. They would also argue that farm raised animals allowed to go free range for a few weeks or months are also shot & not hunted. The last issue for me is - what is a TROPHY? I guess Eland Slayer has some preconcieved idea that onlu 350" plus red stag is a trophy. I do not know where he gets that bench mark from. Here in NZ (check NZ Deer Stalkers Association records) any free range wild stag over 240" and 12 points (6 on each side) is a great trophy to be very proud of. I personally do not agree with the idea that such farm bred stags are true trophies - Just like a hot Russian call girl is not a great conquest. Long after this discussion ends, people will be shooting farm raised monster stags and paying for hot russian teenagers! "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

But thats the problem...this thread will NEVER end ------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"
