So our military men with say a Marine or Ranger tattoo on the forearm or bicep look like gang bangers and low-lifes? I'm a surgeon but my buds that are contractors, ranchers, cops, etc. that have them are no different than me. Bunch of assholes commenting here. Carry on.
|

Norton, Not all are assholes, but they do seem to be common here from time to time.
|
One of Us |
That is about the size of it. The military is often the employer of last refuge for some of the tatted up types. They go in the military and come out screwed up and claim it was PTSD, when the truth is they were screwed up when they went into the military.

You brought up the security clearance. A tattoo and a security clearance does not make anyone a celebrity or anything to brag about.

Norton is a surgeon that thinks he is less of an asshole for having a tattoo.

There's a helluva lot of difference between a fouled anchor or a devil dog and a bunch of over the top gangbanger bullshit. There's a helluva lot of difference between a GI in Afganistan with a "Mother" tat and some turd with "wrongfully convicted" tatooed on his eye brows. 'Course some folks haven't the intellect to discern the difference. Aim for the exit hole

That about sums up the whole thread. Many of the opinions here on both sides have merit. Discerning the difference certainly is an obstacle for many of the more passionate posters...... ______________________ Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

Wow, Norton is one of them cyberspace bad asses. And, if he is indeed a surgeon, I'm sure he was at the head of the class in the "doctors are God" course. "Gee golly, I know how to make noses smaller and breast bigger ergo I have a superior knowledge of everything." ROFLMAO Even without a tat, you're a jerk. And if you want to put a boot on me, you'd better make sure it's well greased before you try it. Aim for the exit hole

BTW....It's a shirt.....not a tat As I have stated before....my wife had surgery in July by one of the best reconstructive surgeons in Missouri We visited her ofice 3 times and only in the recovery room after surgery did she reveal her double full sleeve arms (the Dr. not my wife) Smart lady.....not according to some people here But people with a tattoo couldn't care less what people think about their tattoo I know I don't.....as far as a tramp or whatever terms are used for a lady with ink... Say any of them to the face of my wife and you will get your ass handed to you by a girl ________________________________________________ Maker of The Frankenstud Sling Keeper Proudly made in the USA Acepting all forms of payment

Yes sir, the tattoo culture is definetely a love it or hate it thing. While I don't have any my oldest son who graduated from the US Air Force Academy and is an Aircraft Commander flying over Afghanistan has a couple that all deal with honor and duty. The youngest is a graphic designer and has the most beautiful tattoo of Michelangelo's "The creation of man" on one whole side of his ribcage while their sister who is at the top of her class at Creighton University accelerated nusing school even has one that is the title of a hymn, "Be though my vision". While I have turned down their request ot get one with them, I don't think any of them qualify as trashy like people like some posters seem to think thye should be classified as. JMHO

I like this one... Mike Legistine actu quod scripsi? Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue. What I have learned on AR, since 2001: 1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken. 2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps. 3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges. 4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down. 5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine. 6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle. 7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions. 8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA. 9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not. 10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact. 11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores. 12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence. 13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Like I have said previously tattoos are license plates for criminals. Is that what your's is going to be? Stupid is as stupid does.

Funny, I know an guy that makes north of 100K a year, has a Ph.D., loves to hunt and fish and also has a tattoo. His team has seven guys in it that makes their company over 30 million a year, and three of the seven have tattoos. Also, know a gal that has her own business with as many clients as she wants with a waiting list about a dozen deep. Know another guy that owes about 40 sections of land in the Oklahoma panhandle, owns a multiple million dollar farming operation, and knocks down over a quarter million a year, who both him and his wife have tattoos. Finally, know a ole boy that owns a very successful business in the OKC area and both him and his wife have a tattoo each. I bet if you met any of these people on a daily basis, you would never know they had a tattoo. Graybird "Make no mistake, it's not revenge he's after ... it's the reckoning."

“Comparatively, tattooing is not the hideous custom which it is called. It is not barbarous merely because the printing is skin-deep and unalterable.” ― Henry David Thoreau, Walden xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. It was probably true when he wrote it. Interesting that you take issue with a man's opinion that has been dead for more than 150 years. xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members.
