Someone here can figure out how to rotate the image 90 degress right.

Safarikid lives in on the east coast so that might be a trek. I'll have something really big for you to shoot down here in a short time. You need to aquire one of Tom McCoy's recoil obliterators first.

What's this "I think"??? The 505's either rattled your brain or you need to go back and work it out. Your not paying for the ammunition are you?! SHOOT MORE!!!

Big bore rifles are fun aren't they??? Big bore wildcats are both fun and addictive ... lets see where I'm at ... the baby 375/08, then 470Capstick, 458AR being built ... and scheming on another hillbilly...

WTG boomie! Long time coming, eh....bet it felt sweet. Smiler

615 @ 2300 is a decent place to get started. Not quite 500 A2 levels, but gettin close. I think you may be a little off on your recoil ft-lbs, but thats just little details eh! You finally rode the dragon, and liked it. Smiler

If you want to enhance the recoil experience (ie. take it up another notch), try shooting a 3 shot group from the bench with that bad boy. That'll change your perspective on 615 at 2300 a little. Big Grin

Cheers and congrats,
Canuck

And like Jeffe says, watch that trigger finger.

I will post another vid of me shooting a 22 and crying from the recoil and scope bite...

The 505 was 535@ 2300 and felt about 1/3rd less recoil...

I hope to make it to Texas to try some bigger stuff and try to get the response some here are looking for Big Grin

That would be about 90 ft-lbs, assuming that rifle is also 10 lbs.

The 550 would be about 110 ft-lbs.

The difference is pretty noticable IMHO. My 470 Mbogo is about 100 ft-lbs vs the 500 A2 at 125 ft-lbs...and I definitely notice a difference.

The 550 stock has a bit more drop, better for irons. It was a factory-equivalent load for the 505; Mac's 558gr at 2300 give or take. The 550 was about the same, 615 at 2300. Ya gotta break 'em in easy!

The most exciting part of the whole show was driving back last night...got to minus-seventeen-degrees!! near Currie, Nevada about 1 am.

Great show!

Boom stick - congrates on popping some large bores and just one FYI: there is a considerable jump between 615's @ 2300 and 750's @ 2400 in a similar weight rifle. Work up a bit at a time and you will have fun.

Have fun

Boomie,
Some of us just handle recoil better than others, welcome to the big bores.I am glad the gun did not knock you over and leave you bleeding! The more experience you get the easier it gets. If you shoot properly and the gun is made right, you will get to be like Rob, Safari Kid and myself and recoil won"t bother you at all. It makes for a less spectacular video when the gun doesn't knock the shit out of you, or go flying over your head, but thats not what shooting big bores should be about anyway. Good luck.
