Wayne and I hatched an idea to do an "upgrade" on a Ruger African in 375, like they do the upgrades for CZ rifles! It is well underway with a new stock, quarter rib etc... As soon as I get some pictures I will post them. This is really cool for the Ruger lovers out there! | ||

Can't wait to see it! I have a couple of Rugers. I have never been very happy with the size of the safety (MKII) in that it is very small and when you are in a hurry, it can be difficult to operate. I've actually torn my thumb nail on it a couple of times. (For a non-DG rifle, it is just fine, btw). The Winchester wing seems to be much more user friendly. JMHO. Does AHR have a solution for that? I'd love to get mine converted to a bigger and easier "wing". JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous. | |||

I agree that the African is a great place to start. Its 90% there. They upgraded this year to a barrel band swivel which gave it the look of a safari rifle. Now if they would just add a quarter rib..... However thats what keeps the price point down below the RSM's. Id love to see that rifle in 9.3x62. My current project is putting an Alaskan into an HS Precision stock for a compact rifle. I cant live with the Hogue stock but like the compact size. Im off to South Africa in July and will be taking my African back for its second trip. Rob | |||

Boy, just put a larger magazine in her and I'd be real happy.. I know it's just me but I feel better with at least a 4+1 My Sako Safari and 458 Lott are 5+1 I feel like I'm going in after-em with practically a assault rifle  MopaneMike | |||

AR just cost me some $$$...I boxed up my Ruger Hawkeye African 375 Ruger today and sent it to AHR. Can't wait to get the "new" rifle back. | |||

Is it just me or does anyone else think the Ruger bolt handle could have a little less radical bend to it, but that aside that is one very nice rifle. Von Gruff. | |||
