Hey Guys, I called my gunsmith, Bill Moyer in Carlisle, PA. He said pretty much the same as what Fjold said except that he thinks he will be able to offer a better price than what RMiller stated. I've had a few custom rifles built by him and he is absolutely honest. I told him to order one for me. Does anyone know or has has anyone heard about the strength of the actions on the 45-70s? The Spartan page said that you should follow the SAMMI specs. for loading but ...if it is the same action as will be on the 30-06, maybe the rifles could be loaded a little hotter... If anyone has any info. please share it! Thanks, Smoker

Yes! According to Remington, they will NOT guarantee them as safe for use with any ammo developing OVER 28,000 PSI .... This is SAAMI max for a factory-loaded .45/70. I believe this may be a chamber-wall thickness limitation, rather than an action-strength issue, since the '06 barrels will have much heavier chamber walls. "Bitte, trinks du nicht das Wasser. okay.. just to check... i weighed the crackhead bigbore (45/70 handirifle, loaded hot) it's 6# 8.3 oz... so, the remington at 7.5# would be REDUCED recoil compared... dang it, i'll take one jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? There is a pallet of them sitting in a warehouse in Central Iowa. Should be available soon or sooner. Brent When there is lead in the air, there is hope in my heart -- MWH ~1996

I would be very interested in the impressions anybody who gets one of these rifles has. Anytime I see something that is much less than I would otherwise expect, I am suspicious to say the least. My opinion of the Russian manufactured firearms has been pretty low. I figured that one of these guns might be a good purchase as "fun gun" but little else. Who know's? I've been wrong before. Elmer Keith is quoted as having asked "What's it good for?" The rifle above interests me as a low noise short range deer dropper. I want a rifle that will not be heard much, not shake windows and yet penetrate the base of a deers neck/shoulder and drop it. I see a 405 gr hard cast bullet with a flat nose as doing that at modest velocity. Maybe it won't be a "whisper" but it may just sound like a distant shotgun pop. That's a good enough reason for me. Also I was not looking forward to heavy recoil and my application and load will not generate a lot of recoil. Join the NRA

Brent, What is the news with the Pallet in Iowa. Ready to sell yet? Put me on the list if you have any to offer. ****************************************************************** R. The various Spartans on display at the NRA show all had fairly decent wood, including the double rifle. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

If it's closing time at the local gun pub, AND if I have been sniffing enough Hoppe's No.9, AND if I spot one of those on the shelf, she just might go home with me. This happened recently with a T.T.N. Model 1878 Old West shotgun ... It is a rebuilt Chinese shotgun with a barrel extension as a sort of third fastener, hammers bent inward a bit for simultaneous cocking with one thumb, new mainsprings, new gold bead, nice walnut, steel buttplate, 18-1/2" SXS barrels choked straight cylinder, for 12 guage 3" cartouche ... would make Elmer Fudd or Doc Holliday proud.
