Hey SAFARIKID,
I was thinking about that one too - though not quite as light as what you would do hillbilly

Next up is the 585AHR for my dad then I am trying to coerce Ed and Wayne to build the .495AHR (Rob's 600OK case necked down to .510).

Since there seems to be a back-up on delivery of the MRC PH action Roll Eyes the .495 might have to be built on the CZ action in the AHR usual fashion. When the PH becomes a reality, if not in time for the .495 project, it might be the foundation of whatever .550 I go with (.550AHR?). Or maybe the 577BME if that gets ressurected or Ed's 585BHE.

Oh - finally think I have my dad convinced that he is fit enough to go to Africa, so expect a call this week for a chat on when and where in '09.

SAFARIKID,

That is the existential question of the new millenia.

A brief discussion on the mythical beast:

https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4711043/m/716101709

I have been watching for its appearance, like so many others. In terms of when it will come to pass, judging from the comments in the past, its appearance will come to pass "in the fullness of time".

I believe the original promised delivery of the PH action can be traced back in time to somewhere between the initial prophecy of a Messiah as memorialized in the Torah and the the Koran's prophecy of the coming of the 12th Imam. Further archeological study will hopefully narrow down that window.

Tom,
If McGowen doesn't have my button yet, well, I'll be upset.

10.5 is not too bad in the express, but if you want stagger feeding, the ruger m77 mkII might be a better place to start.

You have hunted with a 4.5 (not sure if correct?) lb 458 Lott.
What would you call a "lil Lightweight"?

Jim you have spent way to much time in school!

Kid its time for a intervention, you like the pain! We got to get you some help. It would be cheaper to fly me in to hit you. Hell I getting old and may not have enough beans any more - I find someone. We can start with Iron Mike- next would be Forman -then Sugar Ray- then Me - That black super model- whats her name, and finish with Paris Hilton or Mac if shes in jail. We will taper you off slow just like the patch. I am sure we can break the pain addiction.

We can pay for this by selling off all those loud tools of agony to the members here, I am sure they will help.

In the end you will just have to love your self.

Jim is self taught. They never taught his stuff in school.

SAFARIKID,
Inquiring minds want know the recipe for a 13-pound 50BMG.
I been thinking about doing one of those. Big Grin
What stock, action, and barrel contour and length?

All those 25 to 35-pound braked 50BMG's have always been very disappointing in the recoil department. All sound and no fury on the butt end.

I could load a flyweight 50BMG to my recoil tolerance. I suspect I could easily satisfy myself that way. I need nothing bigger than a 50.

However, you may need more, so with simply rebarreling your Ultralightweight 50BMG to my new Wildcat .550/50BMG, it might lose a half pound. 12.5 pound .550/50BMG might be perfect. Wink

Rebore a 50BMG barrel to .550-caliber?
Switch barrel it to .416 Barrett for versatility?

... Argh! ...
An 18-incher!
And 13.5 pounds!!! You fibbed a half pound!!! Big Grin
I can equal the ballistics that one gives with my 10.5 pound 500A2 on a Ruger No.1 with 27" barrel and my rifle is also shorter than that one, and quieter!!! Big Grin

At such low velocities that one should have a 12" twist instead of that crummy old 15" twist Lothar Walther barrel. Wink

Sorry SAFARIKID, that is a mighty simple recipe. Too easy. I gotta pass on that one. Big Grin

Oh come on, I did read the fine print and the velocity versus barrel length table. 9.9-pounder is sold to "military only?" Why is that? Is that the weight of the ball it throws?

Have anzio use a carbon wrap barrel. ABS and Christensen arms both do 50 barrels.
