Saeed your grasp of history is woeful. I suggest you look up Irgun and Lehi. Lots of dead Arabs and British soldiers in the run up to Israeli statehood. Irgun was declared a terrorist organisation by the UN amongst others. That part of the world and specifically Gaza has been fought over by literally dozens of civilisations which have come and gone over the last 3-4000 years. The Egyptians, Philistines, assyrians, Egypt again, christians, mamelukes ottomans and probably a couple of dozen I've forgotten. I'll take a guess: Hamas should be treated like any other terrorist organization. There's nothing to negotiate or agree on, (see the Taliban,) they should be exterminated. On the other hand the Palestinians that seek peace and life should be afforded every opportunity. Give them their sovereign state. The Palestinians have plenty of historical records for homeland, give it to them. As for aid, how much money have we funneled directly into Ukrainian Oligarchs pockets? Now my suspicion would be that a sovereign Palestinian state would make treaty agreements with the rest of the Islamic world and then would continue to be used as one of many jumping off points for terrorism and war as Syria and Lebanon currently is. Iran and Iraq, (is there any difference any more?) wouldn't have to sneak and war materiel into Palestine State, they'd truck it across the border to great fanfare and parades. Saeed, I have nothing but respect for your views and thank you for this wonderful forum where ideas can be shared, and this probably is a lesson to stay out of the political forum. But. Jews were in Palestine over 2,000 years ago. They were displaced. The Brits meddled as they often did and established a Jewish state. All they did was give folks back what they previously owned. The problem was, other folks thought they owned it. Not much different from what the Brits did in East Africa. The difference is the results. This all could have likely been prevented if Abraham hadn't slept with the maid 3,000 years ago, but here we are. It's not acceptable for Hamas to raid a festival and kidnap kids and old people and then execute them. That can't go without punishment whether you agree with the existence of Israel or not. The animals that did that clearly need to be exterminated, but the problem is what do you do with their children? When you kill them, their children are the next generation of Hamas. Saeed, what is shown in your link is wrong--a wrong being committed by Israel, which seems intent on settling occupied land. But there are two wrongs here. The events of last October still shock my conscience to recall. By continuing to support Hamas, the Palestinian people make themselves complicit in those crimes. It's difficult for me to sympathize much with people who are complicit in hideous crimes. I do feel sad for the children though, who have no say in crimes committed by their parents. | |||

One thing I agree with you on Saeed is that we should all be able to live together. It's amazing that we can't seem to figure that out over millenia. Political or religious ideologies aside, we all have more in common than we have differences. We all want to raise our families and see our children have opportunities to succeed. That should be enough common ground for at least a start. But we cannot have terrorist attacks on the US, Israel, Ukraine, Burkina Faso, or elsewhere.
