One obvious difference between your examples and a border wall is that the "progs" as you call them have regular security checks to make sure no one is using ladders or digging tunnels on their walls.

Whereas an isolated border wall would require ten times more border guards to patrol.

Weirdly enough, Trump's Republican Party shot down a new border bill that would have provided for additional border guards...

Weirdly enough that same bill didn't do anything with 8500 PER DAY allowed before next steps. 1.85m more illegals per year...

Judging by your comments, you have never ridden a fence line as part of your daily duties

The tunnels that exist today are in Heavily populated areas, often within a mile of the official port (crossing in general English)

But, hey, I am willing to be informed, can you show me where Harris' (see what i did there) proposed border wall has explicit callouts for ignoring Normal maintenance of every other government fence/wall? Pretty standard facilities maintenance plan, in use with like every wall under government control

Cute attempt at a strawman though

Well Roland that fine plan was not agreed upon by everyone, the house had a much better plan but the Dems did not support it.
But to go over some of the fine points of the plan you like
1. Codified catch and release
2. Put into law illegal immigrants were give immediate work permits
3. Put into law that illegal immigrants would be given taxpayer funded attorneys
4. Gave billions to sanctuary cities
5. Set up a guaranteed 1.8 million allowed in each year

Fine plan

Wow Roland.....wouldn't it be easier for the border patrol to watch a wall than 100s of miles of wide open spaces.......kinda like your example....walls work when you want them to.....

Yep that bill woulda provided more employees to process illegals into the country.....stop the drivel.....

Thst plan could survive the Filibuster, was negotiated by Conservatives from the South West, and could survive the veto.

The House plan was not bipartisan. It could not survive filibuster not veto.

It was never an exercise in good governance or good faith.

You have cherry-picked parts of the bill you don't like. Weirdly, you didn't provide a link or authority for your claims.

1. I don't know what "codified catch and release" means. What would they be doing under the new bill that they're not doing now?

2. I support limited work permits so the illegals can support themselves instead of becoming public charges. This should not delay the deportation process. I don't know what the bill provides for in this respect. You never supported your claim with an authority I could check. I don't have time to do your research for you.

3. Aren't illegals already being provided taxpayer-funded attorneys in at least some cases? I disagree with this practice, if it does take place. What part of the bill provided for this?

4. Cities that have been overwhelmed should be assisted by the government who's caused the problem, without regard to whether they're so-called sanctuary cities.

5. I question your facts here. I suspect the number you give may not be accurate; I suspect it may be more like this: the bill's proponents did not give a "guaranteed" number of illegals, but a do-not-exceed target, knowing that some illegal immigration would inevitably occur.

But my, the audacity to claim someone else is cherry picking and without link.. oh, the shame.. of nearly every poster.. you, for example, didn't provide a link to the amendment (the bill passed the amendment didnt) that you referred to

Yeah, I am guilty too.

If I'm called to support my own claims, the onus is on me to support them.

But I don't have to, nor have the time to, research every questionable claim made by others.

The burden is on the proponent of a claim to prove it.

Increasingly there is no place in our government for compromise. The border bill was a compromise. Both sides getting some of what they wanted, not getting other aspects of what they wanted and both going away with a partial loaf. That is unacceptable to the left and right fringe. They have become the adult equivalents of “I’ll just take my ball and go home” children. So Lindsey says he did not like big parts of bill. Guess what, those on the left did not like big parts of the bill either. That’s why it is called compromise. There is an old saying that a good compromise is one that leaves both sides dissatisfied. That’s what the border bill did. Unfortunately we have folks today that do not appreciate that our government cannot function without compromise and they are prepared to have no loaf at all versus half a loaf. As a consequence, nothing gets done and everyone just bitches and complains.

Jines, please tell me what parts of the bill the left did not like, Well I guess the fact that the illegals were not picked up at the border in a limo and then brought to their new house.

However the left must love the new plan for loans for illegals to buy homes in California
